If you always want the car to charge to 85%, only use the general profile with minimum set to 85%, not timers. If you want to preheat the car on a timer, uncheck the charging part on the timer, use it just to preheat. Only use the timer for charging if you want to go above 85%.

PS> The UX of this is very poor. I speculate it was never actually designed. Some engineer was handed the ISO15118 spec and they just implemented UI based on that spec, without any consideration of usability.
No, this doesn’t work. I set only the profile to 85% and it just keeps going all the way to 100% (Porsche call it a ‘minimum charge’ not a maximum for a reason it seems).

I’m starting to think some of us may be having different experiences to others and maybe that’s why this question keeps popping up.

Every month or so someone opens a thread like this saying it’s not working and someone who it does work for pops up saying ‘why are we taking about this again, it’s easy, you just do x’ - but x clearly works for some people but not others!

Assuming your street charger doesn't go above 22kw, than no, it shouldn't go above 85% with proper limit set
Ok, well it does (go above) ?

Did you:
  1. Delete all but General profile
  2. Set General Profile minimum to 85%
  3. Enable the General Profile
  4. Delete ALL timers
?

Hi - Yes, I know this topic has been discussed 1,000 times but most of the threads seem to be closed down by someone entering the discussion and saying ‘you just set a timer for 85%’ or ‘the minimum charge in profile is actually a maximum’, etc…

None of this is true.

I set a timer for 85% at 8am, wake up at 10 and the F***IN car is at 100%.

I set the profile minimum charge to 85% overnight, wake-up and the F***ING car is at 100%.

DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW YOU MAKE THE THING STOP AT 85% AND FOR IT TO ACTUALLY STOP 85%?
Yeah since 2020..and is a doddle to do.

Profile settings to the minimum default 25%. Add to this a daily rrcurring timer for time of departure.and target charge of whatever but 85% in your case. Plug in when needed.

Do not have any other competing timers or profikes active and do not have any programming control set on your EVSE.

Simples.

Yep, the problem comes when you leave it past the time time. It just keeps going. You solution doesn’t prevent that.

Yes. Have only ever had one profile and it always overshoots the 85% when this is set.

I’m certain that it didn’t used to be this way. Last year it used to stop at 85% but these days it just keeps going (I had the latest software update with the breaks recall a couple of months ago and it may even have changed since that)

With only one profile set to minimum 85% optimized charging, and it enabled, and no timers at all present (enabled or not), does it still charge beyond 85% every time you plug it in?

Also, is the one and only profile you have, somehow set to a geo-location? If so, disable the location based.

Apologies in advance if you’ve already discounted this.

The following are my current settings for charging - Profile and Timer. I’ve been using this since the car was delivered and it charges to 85% by 0700 each day:

This has worked for almost two years of ownership. If the above settings are the same for you, all I can suggest is a trip to the dealership to see why it isn’t working? Most likely they will probably be stumped as well but it will, at least, get escalated on your behalf to Stuttgart.

Here is a hint to Porsche in case if they can’t access other manufacturers’ solutions

This is a long shot! When I had the brake recall done a week ago plus the ARB6 recall for the battery, my PCM got confused. I did no longer have any Smart Lift Function and no stored seat positions in my car any more. Some other functions may also have been missing, but not noticed.

I did a hard reset of the PCM by disconnecting the negative 12 volt battery pole, waited about 5-10 minutes and reconnected. Once the PCM restarted all the functions were back and have worked since then.
If you are not confident to take off the 12 volt negative, take it to the dealer and ask them to do a full restart of the PCM via their computers etc.
It is a long shot but perhaps….?

Maybe this thought will help?

Profile: The car is charged immediately up to a certain SOC.
Timer: The car must be ready for departure by a certain time. (Preheated and ??% SOC)

I had set the profile to 50% on my old 4S. So it is not empty if I have to drive spontaneously.
The timer is set to the day and time for driving off (Preheated and 85% SOC)
And an extra timer for 100%

This works for me without any problems.

The profile will no longer be available at 2025 cars.

Yes, it always charges past and no, it’s not location specific. See attached.
the more I think about it the more I think it stopped working after the recall software update it had about a month ago

Had the same angry question when it happened to me, set the profile to a minimum charge of less of the 85% and the set the timer for 85% and the time range. Let me know if this helps, enjoy your car
