Hi - new here and probably about to press the button on a new Taycan. Question is CT4 or ST? I don't need a 4S or above. What I can't tell is what are the differences between the two other than (one is 4wd, comes with performance battery as standard and has a few bits of plastic and a slightly higher ride height). In the UK, the price difference on the base price is about £9k. Sounds a lot as once you take the battery out of the equation you still have £4.5k on the other things. Am I missing other standard options on the CT4? Or is it just the case that the 4wd and the plastic bits are the only things?

This would be J1.2 version so a new order.

I’ve owned my ST for a year. Originally got hooked into the Taycan by the CT. Parked mine next to a CT recently and i much prefer the aesthetics of the ST. I cant see a reason to go for a CT if youre buying from new. Others will obvs feel differently.

I am into cars that are a mash up of use cases…thus my strong preference for the CT. If I lived in a warm weather climate though, I may consider giving up on my aesthetic preference and just pick up an ST. Hard to make a terrible choice here given that it’s all basically the same car.

I would approach it by comparing Standard Equipment list on the configurator which should show the differences in packaging of each trim. Then I would configure each one the way you want it and see where the prices fall since some features may be standard, some optional, and others may be cheaper in option packages (at least in the US) based on the trim.

Just compare the ST4S with the CT4S.
The ST4S with the big battery is a tad costlier than the CT4S (in Germany at least)

So the added cost in the base model is probably just that you get one more motor for 4WD.

I think in J1 the panoramic roof was standard in the CT but that is no longer the case with J1.2

But you really should check the standard item list.

CT, almost an inch higher which helps me in everyday use: avoiding curbs, getting in and out.
To me an advantage.
ST has better economy, looks "sleaker", bit more sporty.
Still I think the CT fits really well into Taycan Turismo utility concept.

i was after an ST GTS first, don't regret a second that it's a CT now.

It comes down to cosmetics mostly and if you have a dislike of plastic or not.

Personally, ST over CT. Additional ride height (20mm) on regular roads is largely irrelevant.

Performance Battery Plus is a must - range is king.

If comparing a 4SCT to a 4SST then apart from the plastic the specs will be near enough identical.

If plastic is your thing then the off road design pack can be added and comes with a little more ground clearance.

Entry level models of either will have led only headlights rather than Matrix (better).

All wheel drive (AWD) rather than 4WD - dual motors - is better all round and helps when road conditions aren't great - snow, ice, grip in general. All models are AWD apart from entry level so I'd go with the '4 and skip any RWD.

I've had both J1.2 4SCT and 4SST models on loan in the last month and apart from the lack of plastic you can't really discern a difference in the drive.

I went from a CT4 to an STGTS in May. Prefer the current one so much more than the previous both in looks and more obviously, performance.

Saying that, I saw a gleaming white CT4S yesterday and must be honest, it looked fantastic - I am a fan on the plastics and it looked great (may even have been gloss). I think it depends how they're specc'd - for me, the ST with the RS Spyder wheels looks phenomenal. I did love the CT4 wheels too.

Does the ST have the mounting brackets for the bike rack? In the US I think not if that factors into your situation.

My friend just got a GTS and it doesnt have the bike prep - US car - he was a bit disappointed as we have on our CT and would like for road trips.

I've seen an ST advertised with bike rack prep here in UK but not all have it (my GTS doesn't) - so it seems to be an option.

Apart from the above, the only other difference I am aware of is gravel mode (which i have yet to use. I believe it is fantastic for off road use. Check Harry's Garage for a test of this). I have a MY24 white 4CT and I am very pleased with it. I equally like the ST look, but if you are looking at the ST or 4CT, then worth considering if 4WD is important to you. For what it's worth, I still look back at my car each time I walk away. I don't think you will be disappointed with either.

I went for a CT partly because the extra 15mm of bump travel will be better on the dire roads in rural Oxfordshire but mainly because by far my favourite wheels, 21" CT, are only available on the cross turismo and I actually find the majority of the other wheel choices either ugly or boring.
I dislike the plastic wheelarch trim but not enough to choose ugly or boring wheels ;)

Overall whilst the weather is rarely bad enough here to require 4 wheel drive for traction and in a IC engined car I'd say it isn't worth the weight, in an EV it allows better balanced regenerative braking since, obviously, the RWD can only regenerate from the rear axle which has less potential (but probably adequate most of the time).
