I've just completed installing a 4K Blackvue, and Escort radar using Blendmount and mirror tap. The pics on this site made the installation go much smoother. This is my fifth camera installation, and first on an EV. If any installer try to charge you extra because an EV is different than an ICE car to install, then tell them BS. There's absolutely no difference at all.

Install looks like mine, except I opted to offset my rear camera to the left in your picture. Tucks it out of the way and does not interfere with your view out the rear. I totally agree. Zero difference EV vs Ice. The fuse box looks just like any other car on the market.

That was my first thought, but when my wife and I took turns holding the camera while the other person sat in the driver’s seat, and it didn’t bother us. Moreover, when we checked the live view between the two spots we both preferred it in the middle so it doesn’t cut out the right part of view. I did the same for the front camera so it doesn’t cut out any view on the left of it. It meant the camera being lower on the dash and you see a couple inches of wires but that’s fine for a better viewing angle. To each his own really.

I just finished up an install in a CT with a blackvue. The biggest challenge wasn't running the lines, but rather, finding an ACC fuse location.

Running the line for the rear camera, you'll want to run it under the floor side trim ( did it through the passenger side). There are two options for the rear camera line (lazy) and (perfectionist).

Lazy: running the rear camera line from the floor, up and behind the left side bolster, following the lines to the speaker, then up the weather strip seal, you can pass it through the plastic trim that's on the top of the rear hatch. The plastic trim, can be opened up just enough to pass the rear line through. I mounted my camera such that the lens is exactly lined up with the center line of the rear hatch trim, with it in between two defroster lines, two "lanes" from the top (please put it between two defroster lines).

Perfectionist: same as the lazy, but instead of just running the line through the weather stripping, drop the rear part of the head liner, fish a line through the rubber wire loom and pull the rear camera line through the wire loom.

For the ACC line, use the passenger (right) footwell fuse box. Bank B, (fuses 1 - 4) are all usable as ACC (no delays!).

For the ground, you'll want to use the fuse box side dash location. Screws there are attached to the chassis. Test them and you'll find one suitable.

I'll make a video and a write up when I can find time to do the video edits.

Nice! I just bought a Blackvue for my CT so this is going to be helpful.

I posted a picture of the fuse box and the slots. I know you finished your install, but in case anyone else needs a peek. Here is the thread and my post is #91.

I used the picture provided by member @ChronoMax on post #22 in this thread and it worked out perfectly for me.

I must have missed that pic. But perfect he has the drivers side and mine is the passenger for future install reference. It really is not a hard job and the forums here have great info to anyone contemplating it.

Does anyone have the extra Blackvue battery installed on this setup ? I’ve got the 900X front and rear but do want recording when parked without draining the battery.

Which fuse did you use for the permanent supply? Did you find empty fuse holders or did you use fuse taps?

I just received a Blackvue 900x-2CH Plus which has a built-in voltage monitor to protect the battery (parking mode) when it is hardwired into the fuse box. I'm having it installed in my wife's car and, if all goes well, I'll order another one for my Taycan which should be here in a month, give or take a few days.
I'm considering the same dash cam on my Taycan due this week. With the built in voltage monitor does this mean we don't need an external battery and don't need to worry about draining the Taycan's battery (sorry, I know so little about this)? I read somewhere that there is a risk (at least on the model prior to the Plus) that it could drain the battery to zero causing problems down the road, so I was considering an external battery for the 900X-2CH Plus.

In principle, any newer or updated Taycan should automatically re-charge the 12V battery from the high-voltage (HV) battery even when the car is off. So, if you hard-wire the camera directly it should work for a looonnngg time in parking mode. So, in theory you should be good :)

...

However, *if* the 12V battery gets too low for some reason, you have quite a problem as you cannot easily start the car again (and you need a separate battery to even open the frunk to be able to access the 12V battery: see car entry on dead battery, and how to jumpstart). Also:

- the "battery protection" in most cameras (including the 900x) don't really work for a Taycan as the 12V battery is LiFePO4 and the drop-off in voltage is very steep (that is, by the time the protection switches off the camera the battery is already super low).

- it looks like that if the HV battery goes under 10%, it will stop recharging the 12V battery. (unconfirmed)

- some people worry about warranty implications for direct hard-wiring. (this may depend on the country?)

For the above reasons, I use a separate battery (B-124x, see here for my install) but that is a hassle in itself, expensive, and at best you get 18 hours of parking time from 1 battery. Works great for me though :)

In theory yes, you shoudn't need an external battery to prevent the 12v batter from draining. I've had mine installed in both my wife's Acura and my Taycan for months now without issue. However, I seldom go more than a couple of days without driving/charging the Taycan.
