Twice in the past 2 weeks, I have had miles disappear right after charging at an EA charger. Examples: miles shown when finished charging were 260 , and after driving less than a 1/4 mile, it dropped to 200 miles. Next time it happened, I lost 47 miles. Has anyone else had this happen?

I've lost 5 to 10 miles if I charge at EA or at home, but hey it's just a guess-o-meter. What's the drop when you charge at home? Have you had the uPdate?

I recognize this lost of range. First time it happened the car showed 84% - 406 km. After 5 km. of easy driving the display showed 82% - 330 km. This was short after the update.
Since then it hasn’t been so extreme, but the car isn’t by far as economical as before the update. Friday I will visit the dealer and hear what they have to say, but the update is the problem. I drove more than 1500 km. since then so the recalibration has by far been completed.
I payed 6K for the performance plus batter, but don’t get the corresponding range from before the update.

Did you have the GPS configured for a trip? I've seen it immediately lop off miles when it has me on a route with highway miles.

Haven't seen it myself, but I usually plug in the next destination in GPS before leaving the charging station. Long as the SOC reduction is linear I wouldn't worry too much, the car will sort out remaining range based on your driving.

If you change driving modes it can lop miles off as well. Not quite as dramatic as you've indicated but it can be partially to blame.

Well, it occurred on a 7,000 mile road trip to California and sights in between. and return just completed (after the last uPdate). Setting at normal, not range. No launches (except in that crazy Texas traffic...do they all go 100 mph + there?). I generally set each stop individually, for the next charger. Maybe it's Porsches way of limiting charging current, like their home chargers lol?
I found most EA chargers still not working, or if they are, getting about 50% of what I used to get from them, requiring more stops & you have to play hide and seek to find the dispenser that still works. Yes, I know, they are updating the system and repairs....and the check is in the mail.

No problems since then with dropped mileage.

Too bad that the EA customer service ppl can't do the tech repairs. They are super!

Maybe EA is like our supermarket petrol stations and dilute the electricity….

I saw this happen today and I'm going to agree with @DerekS that it's based on using the navigation for a longer trip. It's the first time that I witnessed such a dramatic and immediate drop in range.

Did a quick Dallas -> Austin trip today.
  • @100% charge pulling out of the driveway, it showed 252 mile range.
  • Once I entered the destination at a stop light less than a minute later, it dropped to 215 miles immediately
If anyone was going to ask, running 82-85mph worked out to a 225 mile range which is the worst I've seen to-date - I attribute this to the 75mph Texas speed limits and traffic on I-35 flowing around that speed at 5-7am, even the trucks+trailers.

Color me confused.. is the problem that the drop is significant, or that there is a drop? For a smart navigation device/software, it'd be expected to adjust the range based on destination/route, no?

I faced a similar issue after driving for 70-80km daily after the uPdate , the guesstimated value and trip distance didn’t add up, neither did the charge value based on timer and profile (over shoot or undershoot). However after 2 weeks of driving after uPdate, things seem to have improved to non pre-uPdate trip and guesstimate. Maybe it was a calibration period, only the Porsche gods know about it.
