I have my car in at the dealership for some recall issues. Whilst it is there, they have mailed me with a video health check.
To my surprise both front tyres are worn down to the cords on the very inside edge. Not easily visible on the car, but on the ramp it is plain to see.
My point is, I have only driven the car for 14,000 miles from new and it is my dog carrying wagon, so not driven hard at all.
When I questioned the dealership about the wear on the edge of the tyres, they said it is not unusual at all !!
Surely this can not be right.
Having looked at this subject on the forum, it seems that a few owners are suffering with the same issue.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

I have another daily car I use which is a 2022 BMW X5 45e and that has covered 34,000 miles and still on the original front tyres.

I remember reading on the forum that the uneven tire wear is especially bad when using lowest suspension setting (ie range mode or sport plus) above ~90km/h. Others may know more detail.

With a cat onboard instead of a dog, there are no issues ofcourse.

What suspension setting do you normally use? Are you normally keeping it low?

I understand this is not uncommon. One Youtuber from California had his tires pretty much shredded the same way as you are describing at 20k miles. He posts under Tactical Expedition:

I drive on lowest height all the time, and have been for tens of thousands of km, and i never got excesive tire wear.

More than likely either an alignment issue, or just wrong tire pressure. On 21' summers, i drive with 2.8 all 4 tires.

Taycan seems to be the most variable car for tyre wear. My 4SCT, new in July 23, has just passed 29k miles and the front are wearing evening and on 6mm. Rears were just replaced and they were at 5mm across most, but worn much more on the inner shoulder. Given the car is rear wheel drive for the most part, I would think that alignment may be an issue if your fronts are on the cords given your driving style

For me,

Wow, my wife’s X5 used to only get about 10-15,000 miles out of a set of all season tyres on British B roads. Winter tyres lasted twice as long though. They were on smaller wheels and I assumed that was the main reason for the difference.

Unfortunately it's a very common issue with the Taycan.
And AFAIK we have never been able to get a definitive reason for it happening, as it was across models, years, wheel size, tyre brand etc.

Mine were all shot at 16k miles.
All looked OK, but inner wall was very bad.
Luckily, it was picked up at service time, as the tyres looked good otherwise.

Had same... rear tyres on a CT4S last week...

24k miles... original tyres...

Tyres looked like 3 / 3.5mm thoughough, yet passenger side rear very inside edge was down to cords, and drivers side approx. 200m frrom cords showing.

My car does most of its running low at 70 mph.

Yesterday I got my Taycan 4S back from its 4 year service. Later on I went to have winter tyres fitted and was shocked - as were the tyre folks - at the inner wall wear that was not visible when looking at the tyres which were ok. The tyre fitters thought they were most likely illegal but Porsche said that the lowest tread was 3.5 mm and it had passed it MOT. I have yet to speak with the dealer but the key issue is that its very hard to see this wear on the inside. ON the service paperwork they said it was important to keep the tyres at the right pressure and not let them below this at all....Picture attached.

Very interesting. We have metal springs and at 16k miles they were down to 2/32 but were evenly worn left to right.

I had to replace a front tyre in July after 4500 miles (split) so replaced both fronts at same time. Pirelli P-Zero. I got the car in May 2024 with 2200 miles on it.

I've done 6000 miles since and only have 3-3.3mm on both so need to replace soon. My rears are 5-5.5mm and original.

They've said its normal but this seems wrong. I get these are heavy but getting through a pair of tyres say every 8000 miles/8 months seems crazy?
