Thank Mr O - I must give this a proper try - I tried it a while back and did not see much temperature increase - . but will deffo try it again, maybe I need to give it longer to react...
It does not heat up the battery when stationary/it does not heat up the battery more than normal driving at "high load/performance/speed". Just switching it on and not driving faster/harder won't heat up the battery much more, and will waste energy and reduce your range even more.

It tries to maintain the battery at optimal performance temperature (35 celsius) and offers maximum output of power - which heats up the battery when driving - it may or may not heat up slightly faster, likely not, unless you actually drive faster / do sudden accelerations bursts.

It's more useful in summer, when the battery can overheat while charging/driving - as it pretty much locks the cooling on max if you are over 35Celsius.

So it is not a "precondition" button replacement per-say, definitely not in winter.

Thanks - I did not think that selecting Sport-plus when stationary would heat anything up - that would be silly..

But what you say about it being of marginal benefit as a battery temperature boost matches what I found when I tried it ages ago ... I only tried it a couple of times... So I will happily try it again next time I need a public charge and battery temp is lower than optimal. I'm curious now so I might as well give it another go...

I would still like to have a manual pre-condition button - Instead of using the charge planner to sort the battery temp out - since that always chooses suboptimal chargers for my trip.

Anyways - I'll stop there, since this issue is a tad off-topic for the original sticky sat-nav topic.

cheers

Ive been having the PCM crashes, Sat Nav freezing, Charging Stop pre-conditioning issues. My 2023 GTS is booked in on the 12th to have the PCM/SAT NAV replaced. I don't think for one second this is going to resolve the issue. Can't even believe they suggested this as a solution. Half tempted to call them, cancel and not waste my time

It could be the solution. Not everyone has issues; some might actually benefit from a fresh start with a new PCM.

I’m somewhat relieved that Porsche is bearing such a high cost. They need to feel the financial consequences of their poor software engineering and quality control. The right managers should raise questions and express their frustration.

It’s been six months, and I have no good words left. This is a disaster.

My nav unit already has been replaced last year, didn't prevent the current issues so I doubt it will do anything for you @Matt-Taycan

Totally agree! i think its quite clear to everyone having the issues that it's software related. Maybe its time to have some serious conversations with sales about an Electric Cayenne

I just got an e-mail from my dealer. They have updates available to solve this issue. I'm going in next week. Fingers crossed.

They already updated me to 3885 a few months back. So I'm curious what else is there to update.

@Jasper4S which dealer is this?

Mine states any solution known currently including the update is known to be a temporary fix and I should wait for more news regarding this topic.

@Lusch Leusden, but I heard from a friend that Gelderland has the same update available for his Taycan.

I just left mine (MY24, J1.1) to the Porsche Center. I did wrote them a giant email early January explaining all the issues I've encountered with the navigation (and some more), with suggestions at the end regarding workarounds that could be implemented to avoid bad charging speeds (in the worst case scenario).

Went through all the bullet points with the workshop people, they religiously created an incident for all of these. They also created an official note about my feature requests, that is feedback to Porsche apparently (The main one being to surface the battery pre-conditionning in PCM, so it can be launched manually)

I'm currently on PCM 3882, it will be upgraded to 3885 with re-coding of all ECUs. I've pointed out that J1.2 Taycans could display Android auto/Apple CarPlay on the instrument cluster/HUD and that I would like to have this software on mine (PCM 4xxx series) They told me they will check if that is feasible. I know it's an extremely long shot but who knows, Taycan J1.1 and J1.2 have supposedly the same hardware on the infotainment so, maybe they will do it.

Anyway, I'm supposed to get it back tomorrow afternoon so will report back if the issues (all or a subset of it) are fixed or not.
