Please remember: unless a timer is set to repeat, once its target charge is reached and the timer expires the car will attempt to charge to 100% soon afterwards - this is even mentioned in the manual but seems stupid to me 🤔. I suspect the OIG logic falls foul of this.
Even when an 80% Timer isn’t enabled and there’s no enabled Profile?
Difficult to know what transient changes OIG is making to Profiles and Timers overnight.
I’ll check the manual.

Looking under ‘Using the charging functions in the central display’ I couldnt find the behaviour you mentioned grateful if you could point me at it.

I'm no expert on this (maybe someone else will step in and correct me) but my belief is that once a timer instruction completes the car looks for the next one - and if there's isn't one it will merrily continue to charge to 100% after some short delay.

I can't find it now, either - I'll take another look later when I have more time.

Meanwhile, take a look at this forum post: https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/threads/taycan-charging-quick-reference-profiles-and-timers.6799/ - note the "* Non-repeating timers are inactive 30 minutes after the departure time" and "car will charge to 100%" if "there are no active timers* or profiles".

Haven't seen that happen with OIG, it will often go past the limit I've set on the Octopus app by 1-2% but then just sits there "charging paused" until I unplug. Today I unplugged about 15 minutes after charging slot had ended, but no way have I unplugged that soon every time. Something I'll look out for though, I'll leave it plugged in for a few hours after a session next time if I can.

I agree: it shouldn't happen with OIG - I suspect that's why a random timer set a few days out usually appears when Octopus is controlling the car charge.

This is likely the target SOC slider you’re referring to - the 2nd screen in the Porsche Timer dialogue.
Thanks for the pic, that's the slider I have too.
If the car controls the charge, this timer works.
If Octopus controls the charge, this timer must be disabled to avoid schedule clashes.
And therefore this timer won't - when Octo controls the charge - limit your COS.

I got the impression that some users (newer cars) may have an similar slider which does actually set a hard limit when charging under control of the utility provider. But have not seen any evidence so we may all be in the same boat then.

Better than my attempt.

Octo 7p rate runs up to 05:30. By 07:30 when I depart COS is way past my 80% Octo setpoint - even reaching 100% unless I intervene - if I catch it in time.
Have therefore only used Octo control a few times and now let the car control the charge.

Sounds like something is fundamentally amiss @Boer13 for Octopus smart charging control to not work like that.

Afraid Im out of ideas if the car is set up as your Octopus device and you have no timers or profiles that you have set in the Porsche app causing a conflict.

All I can suggest is going through the process of disconnecting and reconnecting your car as the Octopus device again, weak I know.

My problem - charging past 80% and continuing to 100% - occurred only when I left the car plugged in for a few days.
I did see that it had stopped around 80% after the first night.

Octopus have now responded to the ticket I raised:
Porsche Taycan Intelligent Octopus Go IMG_4163

I’ll challenge this reply.

Thanks - I’ve sent a question on that thread. It doesn’t make sense that if there is no charging instruction scheduled/enabled (I.e. do nothing) the car will decide to charge to 100%.

I guess the theory is: if you haven't set anything and plug the car in it should just charge.

On a related point, has anyone got a Pod Point charger and IOG? On the website, depending on which Taycan I tell it that I have it will say they are compatible or not. I am pretty sure my J1.2 4SCT will work but it’s not 100% clear. I am currently signed up to OVO which was great but they’ve just doubled the price per unit unless you sign up to a monthly plan and the monthly plan is not good value for me.

Yes, I have a pod point solo 7kwh, which is not supported by IOG.

Interesting discussion.
OIG has sucessfully charged my CT4S via my Ohme Home Pro for two years with no issues whatsoever. Nothing set on the car whatsoever. All control through Ohme.
Not necessarily helpful if you are experiencing issues but included for information.
