I also have issues if I use Octo to control the car.
To get around this, I set Octo to charge to 100% and then control the charge amount via the Porsche app.
Works flawlessly every time.
And works perfectly for another EV (which isn't directly supported by Octo).

I only use the Oct app to look at charge schedules (curiosity not a necessity) and should I need a "bump" charge.

FYI, Octo app is set up to control the Hypervolt, which in effect means the Hypervolt is used as a "dumb" charger.
I do need the Hypervolt app to get my EV kW usage each month for company expenses.

Hope you get yours working.

Yeah that’s how I have mine set up; Octopus controls the Hypervolt not the car, because I’d read all the problems here with them controlling the car! It’d all worked well so far, just this problem overnight but maybe I’m just doing it wrong and need to unplug / replug if I want a top up?

Try setting Oct to charge to 100% and then setthe charge limit in the Porsche app. That should fix it for you.

Because you left it plugged in after reaching the desired charge I guess Octopus didn't get the nudge to set a new schedule. Unplugging and replugging should fix that.

That’s my guess but I wasn’t sure if they’d get a callback from the Hypervolt to know whether the car’s been unplugged or not. But I suppose they must do, having thought about it some more.

Thanks for confirming. User error!

This is essentially what I’m doing and it works well.

I wouldn't call it "user error", more of a quirk which in normal use wouldn't be a problem.

....

Do you need to unplug and plug back in for Octopus to schedule a new charge? Do they even have that visibility through the charger API?

The sequence of events was:

2 days ago:
Car has charge limit set to 80%
Plug car in with like 65%, ask octopus to add 80%
Car stopped charging when it got to 80%

24hrs pass, car stays plugged in

Last night:
Change car’s charge limit to 85%
Ask octopus to add 10%

Nothing happened
Rather annoying! I've been making plenty observations over the past month to try find a perfect charging protocol.

Not going to bore you with all the details, but jumping from
1 - Octo controlling the car to
2 - Octo controlling the charger to
3 - Charger app control
4 - Car / car app control

Currently I'm using [2] and intend to leave it plugged in for 4 weeks while away.. so have done a test similar to yours and the second night's charge went in OK.
I have Oco set to add 60%, and apply a limit via the Profile in the car. It was set to 60% for the first night and 70% for the second night, and all good. No fiddling needed and no unplug-replug.

If you can, maybe try the same thing again. I wouldn't be surprised..
I would say, bump the Octo ask higher (I thought I'll try some other number than +100%, but agree with other comments that +100% is probably your best bet. In my experience the car does stop the charge each time, on the mark.
Make sure you have no active Timers in the car (but this you already know).

At first, I couldn’t set it up directly with Octopus as apparently my A2 needed a firmware update. A quick call to Andersen to get them to send new firmware to my A2 and restarting the whole set up process with Octopus then worked perfectly.
What firmware is your A2 now running?

Firmware version 523

Interesting. Mine says Firmware version 307 (up to date), EVSE version 5.8.
Presumably you only get the updated firmware if you ask for it and it doesn’t actually check.
Thanks

Yeh seems a bit odd. I can only assume (without asking) it is either because of the model of the car, mine is a 2026 4S Taycan - the latest model, and Octopus couldn’t talk to the A2 / car.

Octopus in the app said I needed a firmware update so must be something their end - but got to admit it’s working perfectly.

I’m having exactly the same problem. I recently moved from a standard Octopus tariff to the Octopus Intelligent Go tariff, but I can’t get my car to connect — it just keeps coming up with an error message.

My vehicle is a 2020 Porsche Taycan 4S. I’m also a bit worried that I might be taken off the Intelligent tariff and moved back onto the standard Octopus Go tariff.

I’ve spoken to Octopus Energy, but they don’t seem to know how to resolve the connection issue.

I’m wondering if this could be because I don’t pay for the car’s connect/online services?

At the moment, I’m charging via my Zappi wall charger, which I control through the Zappi app and is fully connected to my home Wi-Fi.

so after reading the thread, it sounds like I need to get Optimus energy to control the charger and not the car if I am unable to connect?

It won't work without a connect subscription. I have Intelligent Go and it stopped working when I didn't renew connect. Octopus said they would discontinue Intelligent Go if I didn't add the car back as a device but I don't think they have yet
