Hi all,

I was cleaning my Taycan today and noticed I have moss / algue or mold inside my rear light on both sides. What can I do to remove it, but more important, how can I prevent it from happening

Cheers Jasper

That should definitely not be happening. It seems like that part is compromised and should be replaced under warranty. I would take it to your dealer and make the case for having it replaced.

It may be possible to open up the rear light strip and clean inside. When I removed mine I noticed it was held together with T11 torx bolts (See photo below). If you need a new light strip I have all three rear light assemblies for sale HERE if you want one.

I washed my car this week and noticed the same on both sides.

I am wondering if it's a winter thing and will dissappear as it warms up?

Same mold here, out of warranty, but it’s basically no sunlight and humidity. The green will probably fade after a couple of days sun, but the mold will stay. It’s either dissembling or changing climate.

Seems that moisture in the tailight is an issue. I had the same and had the light replaced under warranty when I got a center backup light defective warning in the PCM. There are several threads on this forum that discuss this.

I've called my Porsche Center, and they will investigate and replace it under warranty. It is a `known` issue, also for the 911. Some moist is allowed, like little particles / drips, but too much that can lead to moss is not. I will report back in a month after the service appointment.

Funny thing, he asked me if i had PFF or a wrap installed since the installation of that could cause it. Since I don't have PFF or a wrap I didn't ask why and how.

Dealer may have been fishing to understand if the lights may have been removed and/or damaged during the PPF process.

Mine is going to have this looked at when it's in at Porsche in a few weeks time for another matter.

I had tail lights replaced under warranty on my TCT TS. Same issue. Well, with brand new lights in it is back again (moist comes in, eventually leading to mould). The part is just faulty. No solution yet. I may bring it up another time in due time. I have seen even newer Taycans with the same issues.

Yikes as I read and see the pages photos. These cars are not my 1988 Mercury and this situation is inexcusable in a sealed lens.
