Thanks for sharing, had a similar experience only with people shovelling snow in the dark on a country road right after a bend…
Does yours ever have “false positives”? IE braking or flashing matrix when there is no danger?

Did the matrix headlights also light the deer up? I couldn't tell from the video.

Probably not cuz it's an animal.
I've never seen it, but maybe cuz it's outside the city, it does when inside the city though.
It does also light up when it's a person on a bike or something.
I sometimes take corners rather quickly and it sees it as a collision and get a collision warning, highlighting the person in red, it pops up even if you don't have NV on the tube, it's always on.
It flashes and often quite unnecessary so I'm kinda embarrassed flashing people for no reason at all...😁

Too bad the vid doesn't show the dash cuz it's quite spectacular to see the NV at work.
You literally can see animals/people from "miles" away in the dark.

Integration with the matrix headlights, where it flashes pedestrians, is part of the NVA option.
It also highlights people and animals in the center tube, and as Dee points out, it pops into view even if not selected.

Automatically braking for people, animals and other obstructions is part of the standard Warn and Brake Assist.
I've triggered it coming around a corner to see a stopped line of cars ahead, also the 18-way Adaptive Sport Seats pulled in the side bolsters.
The feature works both with the standard camera and optional radar (ACC) systems.

Here is a good example of Night Vision Assist doing its thing on a current road trip we're on in Northern Sweden. This is on our 911 but the technology is identical to the same option we had on our the Taycan.

A great video - thanks for sharing. I have this option on my Taycan but it seems only to illuminate hazards with a red box around them on the display and headlight targeting - a lot of deer around us too. Maybe I need to have a look at settings to get braking...

Great story, but the premise is wrong, at least according to Porsche.
Night vision uses headlights to highlight targets but it doesn't brake for you.

Your car would have applied full emergency braking whether it had night vision or not, it uses camera and ACC radar for that.

I have the NV option, and it’s terrific. It is especially valuable in urban environments for people wearing dark clothing who like to dash across the street. The yellow highlight really catches your attention.

PS The NV ability to distinguish objects doesn't work above +28°C though.
It has to do with the difference between warm objects and the ambient temperature to get a proper resolution.
