Tyre Enquiry Taycan J1.2

Hello all,

Hope all is well.

I drove over something sharp and got both my left tyres damag3s, front one went flat with -2.2 straight away while the other is slowly deflating.

Wasn't sure if I can drive on the front one so parked the car to attend to it tomorrow.

Any idea which is the best replacement brand for the tyres in UK/Scotland? And where to get it from?

You cannot have different makes of tyres on the front or rear axle.


If you take photos of the good tyres, that will be the strongest pointer to what you should buy.

You could also change all 4 tyres if they are close to end of life, but still best to know whyat you already have

If you choose to go with another brand, look for NF0 (Porsche approved for Taycan)

Or NF1 which is the updated version of NFO and fitted to new Taycans from MY2025

You can mix brands when done in pairs per axle and of same tread and size.

You cannot mix type of tyre e.g. crossply with radial.

In any event you would always soutce the same tyre - illogical otherwise unless replacing all 4.

Soutce the same tyre - details on tyre wall.

Kwuk-fit (mobile service), Costco (if Michelin), others.

Supply should not be an issue.

Depends what you want/what issues you've experienced with the current ones.

I have really good experience with Hankook ion Evo... Not available in NF rating for J1.1 21s, but not bothered about that. Quiet and handle better than the NF rated Goodyears the car came with.

If you have 21s there are no NF rated all season or winter tyres - that might be a consideration in Scotland... Etc.

I'm currently replacing both front and rear tyres on passenger side, the driver side are 6mm and 5mm front and rear respectively. Any advise if I should change them as well and keep these ones as spare? Or it have no harm to keep them?

Legal requirement is 1.6mm across the central 3/4 but typically 3mm is the threshold due to increased stopping distances if you go below.

Not needed yet therefore.

Thanks for the advise, but wouldn't having higher than the other affect the new one to warn off quicker as more pressure on it's side, or is that all a myth?

I'm no expert but all tyres wear at different rates and on the same car.

RWD cars will show more wear on the rear tyres than the front (obviously).

Can be good practice to rotate your tyres so as to even the wear.

Check with a tyre specialist and take their advice but I don't see the need to spend more than you need to.

No need to change all the tyres, unless you really want a different tyre. Just replace the damage tyres with identical replacements. Porsche recommend max tread difference across the same axel as 30% so just over 2mm. See attached
