I was considering the Zeekr 001 FR, but it's not available outside of China as far as I know.

The normal 001 charges way too slow.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 or 6 N should be pretty fun, but the ride is probably atrociously hard.

It's surprising, even though everyone says the EV market is evolving rapidly - the Taycan is still a very strong contender which offers a combination of features which are hard to find. The efficiency is the only real letdown for me from a technical standpoint.

But my journey began with the facelift, which has been very good so far - but the future is looking not so bright considering how Porsche has handled the pre facelift issues. I just hope nothing happens...

This is the worry. Mine is a 2023 and was excellent for about 18 months, but then it’s had numerous gremlins and issues since. Plus any issues during the first 18 months were offset with the excitement of finally having the car after a 2 year wait. And the OPC were also very quick to react to any issues, plenty of loan cars available within a week

Even the Audi concept has an aweful grill. What is it with the "modern" design paradigm happening over the last 8 or so years? Porsche seems to be one of the few who are still doing it right.

Maybe a daft response but Panamera Hybrid? I know it is not an EV but it is a proper unicorn car with excellent reviews. One of the problems with long service/fix delays with the Taycan is the lack of EV trained Porsche technicians, so not an issue here. Otherwise, 911 GTS Hybrid all.day.long…

I am in a similar boat after 3 years without the same volume of issues as you, a few but not loads, and couldn‘t stomach a Tesla due to Musk either. Plus, if I had a smug Polestar owning neighbour that would strike another one off..!

RS6 final edition..?

Honestly, I don't see good replacement without compromising. I might personally look at M5T if nothing else is out there when I am ready. It is Hybrid and the range is just enough for me for weekly to and back work

I've had enough now so ready to bail out, cut my losses and get rid of this car.

Nav doesn't work, no fix until June if we're lucky. I've had all the recalls, new windscreen from manufacturing fault, it's been in the OPC more than any other car I've owned, there are squeaks and rattles coming, and now the LTE is broken and they can't book me in until mid-March (they said mid-April until I pointed out I'm already booked in mid-March for something else). Porsche service (here in the UK at least) is rubbish, and while the car is a joy to drive the tech backing it up is just woeful. I don't trust the car not to let me down and I'm sick to death of wasting day after day driving to/from the OPC.

So - what do folks think is the closed EV alternative to the Taycan? I'm looking for a similar mix of driving experience/performance and prestige. Money not necessarily an object but in an ideal world I wouldn't lose 70k in 3 years again (though EVs are still developing fast, so they'll all depreciate as tech gets better)

My only other thought is to get in to a 911 GTS with the new T-Hybrid engine, but that doesn't sort the "we can't look at your broken car for 2 months if you want a loan vehicle, or a month if not" issue.
panamera ehybrid

the problem is the Taycan is the best sports sedan on the market - period - regardless of drive train.

Wouldn't touch a hybrid. We bought an XC90 one. Worst of all worlds IMO (not a bad car. But if buying now I wouldn't).

Panamera hybrid I borrowed was rubbish too.

I'd consider a 5N or an EV6 GT if I had to move brands. Possibly a Lotus Emeya for left field.

My 2p on Polestar....

Next door neighbour has a Polestar 3.
Its spent months in the dealer with the common water ingress into the wiring loom fault.
He's far from thrilled with it.

And we just had a Polestar 2 loaner for 2 months while the wifes car was being repaired - which I found very basic and underwhelming.

Isn't Audi ruled out since it shares much of the tech platform with the Taycan?
(And if Audi dealers are somehow able to fix cars quicker, why can't Porsche send some Taycans to them?)

Didn't know about the Zeekr 001 FR. That thing is a hoot! Love it!

I’d be holding out for the Zeekr 001 FR and keeping my fingers crossed that it comes to
the UK. But at present, there’s nothing out there that really compares to the Taycan IMHO…

that's the problem with this entire thread - the assertion that there is a viable alternative to the Taycan…there simply isn't - there are however acceptable compromise choices, but they are all a compromise - no question…

there is no alternative.
