Retrofit Compass?

I love the Sports Chrono package, but realistically I'm not using the "additional instrument" on the dash as Chrono at all. So effectively, it's not even an analog clock, but a digital clock with an analog second hand, and I see at least two more digital clocks in the car already.

A compass on the other hand would be super useful (and fun).

I don't see it as part of Tequipment, so I don't think it's supposed to be a retrofit. But if my guess it's correct, it's just taking the GPS data from the CAN bus, so should probably work regardless.

Has anyone swapped the Sports Chrono Instrument for a compass?

Amusingly it was the choice of compass on the SC display along with the extra bump suspension travel which were the defining reasons I stuck with a CT 4S order instead of ST GTS.
There were other reasons but these were the key ones.

Agree, and I would also like to be able to exchange for a compass in my ST. That Porsche define the customer groups for CT versus ST so narrowly is hard to understand.

Sorry it's off-piste OP...

Same reasons for CT choice here - plus a larger more accessible boot.

Just wish the compass dial lettering was in black when you choose the neodym trim - or had an option to retain simple black and white standard dial - the white lettering you get with neodym is illegible because there is no contrast ...

If I had known I would have paid extra for a more contrasting compass dial colour.

FWIW - I have a similar problem with the dark red traffic alert flags against the black background in the trip summary panel on the sat-nav - You have to click on the alerts to expand them in order to read how many minutes it will cost - simply because of lack of contrast - and that is distracting - white/yellow would be much more legible.

First world problems!

Interesting idea! I'd love to have a compass instead of the chrono too.

Not sure if it helps, but you can set up a compass on the right tube (in a CT, not sure of whether this is available on other models but worth a look). I have it set up on mine. You can go to the options menu, and look at the displays, and you can choose a compass. I chose to display this instead of the 12v battery.

Fair enough. I get your point of view. I don't have the Sport Chrono, so this is the only option I have. Good luck in getting it sorted.

Had a loaner with the compass...wasn't keen. So how looked a bit... Cheap.

Cheap the part isn't, though.
Available in black, white and carmine red for € 960,-.

The compass is manually turning. In addition altitude and time is displayed digitally.

I'm more and more convinced my CT needs this accent.

Since we have yet to order our Taycan, your post just avoided us having a future issue , e.g., just added the compass dial face option in “Bordeau Red’ to match our interior leather choice. While now an extra cost, since we definitely want to keep our intended Neodyme trim option, worth it to us to now spend the extra money so the compass is easily readable. Thanks so much.

I have the compass in my CT and really enjoy it. It’s the little things about it. It isn’t like your cheap bubble compass — it rotates smoothly as you’re changing direction. And at night it’s gently illuminated like the normal sport chronograph clock.

I curious whether it's a simple plug into harness or whether you have to splice the wiring. I'm debating on trying this.
