I don’t actually know if I’ve topped 265. I need to review the data.

I should add achievements to the app.

Thank you very much for your help. some interesting ideas. Bottom line, how do you know on a 2023 Taycan GTS it is charging as fast as it should ie that there is no problem with the vehicles charging software and hardware?
this is a great question - and the simple answer is "you can't" - to determine why any particular charge session is going the speed it's going - you'd need diagnostic logs from both the station and the vehicle - and that data is not available to you as a consumer…

so there is no way for you to tell which side of the charging session is the limiting factor.

it sucks I know - but that's the way it is.

Dear Dave. Thank you. Do you mean if you think car consistently charging below par, the only way to determine if the car has a problem is to take it to the dealer? I was just hoping there was a way to "prove it" before taking it to the dealer for rectification.

@DerekS that is amazing charging speed. A record on this forum possibly as well? That sort of performance appears to be a distant dream in Australia, outside of the Tesla network (which is still mostly locked for Tesla).
I found a faster one from my first Taycan.

I would advise you to test it properly before going to the dealer.
You just can’t compare your car to others without factoring in starting SoC, battery preheating, and even factors like ambient temperature and draws on other charger units from other patrons.

- Select the destination charger in the GPS before you go there, to preheat the battery.
- Get the SoC below 20%.
- Use a known-good 350kW unit.
- Make sure “battery saving” DC fast charging is not turned on.

I predict it will perform just fine (over 250kW).

Thank you. I dont think we have any 350 Kw Chargers in Adelaide. Chargers all 5 mins away so preheating hard. Understand what you mean. Is there any software / hardware self test the car can do, or any report on its charging system it can give you? Otherwise can test on dealers own charger and show dealer, but hoped to get more objective data before do so

It’s all about your state of charge when you begin. If it’s over 80 it’s going to be around 50kW or less.

Evie Charging, Paralowie Shopping Village, 9 Liberator Dr, Paralowie has two 350kw chargers. This is $0.73/kwh on the Evie app.

Next fastest is RAA Charging, Brighton Rd, Glenelg at 150kw. This is free or 100% discount for Taycan's on the Chargefox app.

My prediction is you will get between 95-110 kw on both given a SOC 50% or below. I'm not an expert on charging but it appears the very high charging rates are with 350kw chargers on an 800V architecture, which the Taycan's are enabled to support. I wonder whether our 350kw chargers are on a 400V architecture, hence we only seem to get about half of the rate @DerekS and others achieve. We're only on a 400V architecture because the power utilities have more limited capacity available or the preferred architecture right now in Australia is 400V.

What was your state of charge? It matters!!!!

The rate slows the closer to full it gets.

For a best case charge show up with 20 percent or less AND select the charger in the GPS so it will warm the battery.

I had what I think is a record for me today.

This shows the charging session was free at a ChargePoint charger. This was not through the Porsche App since I think the Porsche App can only be used at EA right? If the charging was free was it at a location which the site owner offers free charging to its customers? If yes, then I could see the incentive this business owner has to insure the highest charging speeds to get cars in & out as quickly as possible.
Some large semiconductor manufacturing facilities which offer free charging to their employees use huge amounts of energy which they buy at very low bulk rates (5-7 cents/kwh) so they want their chargers to charge at the max rate so their employees and company EVs charge very quickly.
The business model for charging locations which are free to customers usually charge nothing for the charge but to keep customers from tying up chargers by parking long after they finish charging they charge fees for every minute past full charge completion. Still some very inconsiderate people will stay plugged into a charger for hours like a Bentley I noticed in Beverly Hills and a Mercedes in Las Vegas where the car owner left the car for 3+ hours plugged into the charger while there was a line of people waiting to charge.
I think to stop these inconsiderate EV drivers the charging station should begin draining the EV battery of its charge at the highest rate back to the grid after 15 minutes past the charge hitting 100%. The owner would surely get back to his/her car quickly if they would eventually come back to their vehicle with 20% SOC because they just parked went to dinner…
I would at least enjoy seeing the reverse drain rate on a vehicle that parked at a charger for 3 hours…
It likely would never happen since the person with the Bentley would probably raise holy hell with the establishment offering free charging and that she should be able to park anywhere she wants as long as she wants since this was a high end fashion mall.
I have to say mostly people are very considerate when waiting to charge their EVs but there is always the one here and there that everyone is blown away at how inconsiderate someone can be…

Ack. No this was Electrify America. I mis logged the charge.

The OP's inquiry has given rise to some interesting discussion, but still awaiting confirmation that this was a ChargePoint 62.5kW pair, in which case all of this discussion is irrelevant to the slow charging rate (i.e., since such behavior is entirely normal for that type of all-too-common charger).

That's an interesting screencap.

Oakridge Mall sits between Winfield Blvd. on the west and the remains of the Guadalupe Parkway on the east. There's an EA charger in the SW corner of the mall next to a car wash and "behind" the BofA if you're looking north from Blossom Hill Road. I think I see an EA logo on the charger in your photo, and the BofA is arguably the closest building to it. However, the address of that branch is 971 Blossom Hill Road. 981 is the IHOP on the other side of Winfield. The network field in the app says ChargePoint, but the closest ChargePoint charger seems to be at a Chevron station across the street from the east side of the mall, at 875.

EDIT: I guess most of that was mooted while I was writing it, but left in case any of it helps you improve Chargey's locationing.

the OP is in Australia - I don't think ChargePoint is an Australian charging network - but I could be wrong.
