If that’s the case (and we’ve had a few of us speculate it’s a memory issue), then I sincerely hope there is some form of compensation for the 9-12 months of useless software which is well below that expected of a premium brand.

If low memory is the cause, why is the problem only occurring in Europe?

I reckon it’s to do with the huge number of charging points available and (as I think Jasper mused) a poor software implementation which tries to display too many of them at once, constantly updates irrelevant charging point usage and probably has a very poor route recalculation algorithm.

It would be interesting to see where the most affected rays and are located and also see when and where different people were affected

My car was returned from service yesterday...they updated the PCM as over Christmas I was getting the rebooting more and more to the point where over the last couple of trips it was unusable.

I asked if it could be updated to J1.2 s/w...no response and it hasn't been.

I now have
  • UI = release-37.17-2147-SNAPSHOT-17.09.2024-15:50:44 (so am assuming no updates for 15mths)
  • s/w vers = MPR3_ER_POG46_K3885
  • PCM vers = 3885
  • Hardware = H9J1035070AG
  • Text vers = MIB3_GUI_37.32_20230215
  • Nav package = V03959808RM_P1320_EU_2024.06 (so am assuming no updates for 18mths)
  • Gracenote = Region=EUROPE-Version=8 (for completeness - music searching :))
Will see how it goes.

There are newer UI releases. I have newer.
There are newer navigation packages. I have from December 2025.
And there are also newer Text vers.

So make of that what you will. They likely only did the 25min TSB for updating from PCM 3882 to 3885, and nothing else.

In switzerland porsche mobility / support stopped recommended 3885 update for this issue, and now instead only say: it is a known issue and engineers are at work. My dealer said they have cars weekly coming for this issue, and since there is no official TSB from porsche, they cannot tell owners to not come and wait.

Interesting, when I went through the nav software version with the guy from Porsche smart mobility (following his instructions over the phone), my version ended EU_2025.12 - so I guess more up to date than yours and that was before any attempt to address the issues in my car.

seems strange that yours should go in for an update - with nav related issues, and come out with an older (UK based) version than a non-updated version....

From what I know the nav package contains also the charging locations. So maybe it is intentional, to reduce the amount of charging locations. 😅 Great "solution", just limit the cars to infrastructure from 2 years ago lmao

What a shit show. Every dealer has other info. Everyone has other combinations of SW versions.
To be fair, according to me dealer, the way Porsche treats dealers is not much different than how they treat customers.
0 communication, only TSBs is what they get, and in case something goes wrong when following a TSB, they get put through an engineer to diagnose.

What a relief 😂

Suggest - If going into an OPC for a fix - or awaiting an OTA fix ... To make a note of parameters such as......
  • UI vers
  • s/w vers
  • PCM vers
  • Hardware vers
  • Text vers
  • Nav package vers
  • Gracenote vers
Or at least the nav package vers and PCM vers beforehand - to see what they have changed when you come out.. .....ask them what changed as well of course..

Would be interesting to see if they are swapping older for more recent vers.

@chun Is your Taycan still ok, no nav problems since ecu update?
No, post a bumper replacement which involved re calibration of sensors and cameras, the issue has returned - around 3-4 weeks ago. Could be just a coincidence, could be related.

Dealer doesn't know. In the absence of any TSB, he proposed rolling back updates, and re applying them. Doesn't inspire confidence, more of a shot in the dark.

My friend that got the same fix 2+ weeks before me still has his maps working.

You'd think they'd even them up, at least per jurisdiction. I can imagine why the nav package in the UK might be different to the one in Switzerland or the USA, but at least have consistency within countries.

But this is yet another symptom of their shit approach to software architecture.

It apparently takes an age to update everything. Why?

If the problems persist on mine I'll push for further updates.

Out of interest, does anyone with a J1.2 suffer the same issues with the satnav?
