EU/UK: Ongoing navigation issues

No it didn’t stop after the charging stop at all. It continued until the next charging stop, when we parked the car, locked it and went for a coffee while charging.

As you can see I drove nearly 200 km with over 30 kWh/100km consumption. And not a vey high average speed either.

CarScanner showed up to 10-12 ampere for the heater.

I have experienced the same several more times since last summer and no solution so far. There is no fault codes or other messages in the car says OPC. They have no time to replicate the issue.

In my case when it happened, only turning off and on the car stopped the “pre-conditioning”/heating.
New destination/route did not fix it.

Sport plus did however kick in the fans for me, which did help cool down the battery fast after the car restart; so it could be that your fans are broken @Scandinavian

Yes I did think that the fans could be the problem, but tested this when I plugged in at Ionity and left the car in sport plus.

The fan started and sounded like a jet preparing for take off.

Locking and leaving the car for about 25 minutes solved it that time, but the same reoccurred several more times.

Just got in touch Smartmobility@Porsche to log my complaint about this.

At present, we are aware of a known technical concern (SBT) that is affecting a number of vehicles and customers. Our product team is actively investigating the matter in order to identify the root cause and implement a permanent solution. While the issue is currently under detailed analysis, I regret that a resolution is not yet available.

They asked for pictures of it.. and the damn thing did not crash for a full day! Until just now, crashed 5 times in 10 minutes.

I will drive across 3 countries on a ski trip this weekend - this will be interesting.

I can already hear the wife saying: "Can we get a diesel now?"

Not expecting it to be fixed - But following PAG instructions to keep the liability with them - Will report back (eventually).

That's right. While we start getting some more chargers installed here, it's not like they flood my map. Proves nothing though, the software could unnecesarily load all of Europe's resources etc.
I do software and I've written worse than that on occasion.

@prj 's explanation makes sense to me - if they need to backport parts of the J1.2's more stable software onto the J1.1 and it's lesser hardware, it will take a while to do properly.

Absolute shit communication skills though, Porsche!

It’s same hardware; software 4360 in 2025 cars running same PCM hardware don’t have the issue.

Problem is that updating the software from 3885 to 4360 can brick the hardware; and that’s after 6h of software updates done in service - per car. Porsche doesn’t want to pay for that.

It's not just bricking. The software is incompatible with the J1.1, there are little things that don't work right, and all that has to be sorted out.

Some functions will show blank, because they need to be properly coded. For example the color wheel will not show any colors for most colors beside a few in j1.1.

But it's not "incompatible".

I have seen it running on out of warranty cars, and have been tempted myself.

The "video" app will also not show properly/work, as it needs to be market coded. But still, doesn't make it incompatible.
There are definitely some small nuggets to fix, but it is functional, and all core functions work. At the end of the day, i don't think the small amount of development time is the cost porsche is worrying about with this.

When shit doesn't work right it's incompatible, that's the definition of the word. You saw only a few things, I am sure there are many more little things that don't work correctly.

I didn't say it doesn't boot up, the hardware is the same and the can/flexray matrix is similar too, so sure it boots up, but the J1.2 software isn't compatible with the J1.1 because not everything works.

Can you do that on your out-of-warranty car and mess around? Yes.
Can Porsche just flash that with random stuff not working? Absolutely not.

Sure, but fixing this is hardly costly; when compared to the cost of actually upgrading 150.000 cars in service and dealing with the potential failures. And I do know this for a fact.

Porsche is not updating the cars not because the software has small incompatibilities that they can't fix, but because even if they fix them, they still need to spend millions in service costs for the actual updates
