Anyone used a 63a commando socket and 50a fuse? If the mobile connect is 40a it should be good for about 8.5kw on single phase?

I only ask because my sparky mate stucka 63a commando socket in my garage when I said I wanted a big one.

I didn’t even know they did a 63a single phase commando socket:like:
I think the max current setting on the Mobile Charger Connect is 32A, which will give 7.5KW with a 240V supply. Mine has shown 31.5A when actually charging.

Ok, so just to clarify, if I have a 32a plug ( in the U.K.) fitted I can use the Porsche charger and will get the same 7kw charge as pod point/ Anderson etc?

Does the Porsche lead allow setting timers so I can charge when rates cheaper overnight?

Does anyone actually keep it in the car and ever use use the lead away from home?

Yeah 32 amp with the blue socket.
I bought a used one for work, was only a couple of hundred with the Porsche cabinet.
I can'tsee why you'd ever want to take it with you unlessyou were going to plug it into someone else's socket but you might as well use a commercial charger.

What’s the blue socket mean/ do?

When you say bought used, do you mean just the cabinet? Don’t think I’d need the cabinet, thinking I will just mount the unit on the cart lodge Inner front pillar. What length lead do you have?

One of these. It doesn't have to be a taycan one. As long as it does 7khw its as good as the taycan unit.

When you order the car you get a 13 pin plug cable plus either a blue round single phase or a red round 3 phase cable.
To use the blue one you need a dedicated 32 amp connection to your consumer unit. That'll give you 11 hours to charge rather than 37 on a 3 pin plug. The red 3 phase will take about hours.

I called up my electricity supplier as I’ve got 100amp coming in single phase. We live in a 5 bed house, with a hot tub outside! I was worried as we use 32 for one charger, 16 for the tub & the other charger would be another 32. Plus I’ve got to light the house! But they said I was border line... I’ll be keeping an eye on things but I think I should be okay. The hot tub only really pulls the amps when it’s refilled with cold water. Rest of the time it just pulls a few amps to keep warm.
I know what I would get rid off if it was an issue

Just to add a question to the thread I have a 5 yr old Chargemaster charger at home which I assumed was 7kw. I’m charging now but it says charging at 3.2kw which is incredibly slow and it says it won’t be charged until 10.07am tomorrow. Surely this is too slow. Any advice.
Thanks

Can you provide any more specifics? Model number?
I have a Taycan 4S and Chargemaster unit installed in 2016 when I had a Panamera.
The receipt says Smart Homecharge 1. 7kw type 2 socket. 230v.
thanks.

That looks like some kind of distributor/installer in the UK. Do you have the model number for the EVSE? Can you take a picture? Does it have a label on it?

Edit: it looks like It may also be an EVSE made by BP, but I can’t get the BP page to load...

Edit 2: page finally loaded, but not much help. I haven’t found any manuals online yet either. I did see a Wikipedia page for the BP Pulse that references the Chargemaster coming in 3.6kW and 7.2kW variants. It’s possible that there’s a dip switch or setting for this on the EVSE...or you may have the wrong unit...? Pictures? Labels?

Edit 3: I did find a forum talking about a setting for 16A vs 32A. May help.

https://www.speakev.com/threads/chargemaster-homecharge-installation-manual.151057/

Edit 4: Post #7 on that thread specifically calls out a jumper that, when removed, reduces output from 32A to 16A.

I went for Anderson, I wanted an outside point with the car parked outside. Really good engineer on the day and flexible about where I wanted it. He had to wire through the garage loft to get the charge point where I wanted it.
The app works fine, I either enable it or disable it. The rest I do in the Porsche connect app with timer and profile, as long as the Anderson is on enabled mode Porsche does the rest.
I have single phase in the house so can only charge at 7kw but that is enough for overnight charging.

What’s your breaker rated at? 32Amp should give you 7.2kw to your unit. I’d probably upgrade to a zappi. It’s only 500 max

I think their EVSE is adjustable and possibly has a jumper removed that is limiting it to 16A instead of 32A.

https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/threads/home-charging-in-the-uk.762/page-5#post-60654

The breaker itself wouldn’t limit it, but it should be checked before they make changes to the EVSE.

No reason to “upgrade” if what they have will work.
