Delivery of my Taycan is expected around mid-July. Do you think there’s a chance it will already be a MY2027 car?

With the recent MY2027 announcement (E-Shift, updated PCM, AI features, etc.), I’m wondering whether Porsche may already have switched production to the new model year. Has anyone with a similar delivery timeframe received any information from their dealer?

On the other hand however, most of the ICE enthusiasts hide behind the excuse of "not feeling nor hearing a sound", "the emotions coming of an engine". And so, if it can give a push to these people to convert from ICE to EV, I'm all up for it!
So next is … the smell of cleverly crafted “103 Octane fumes“ in a car freshner pushed through the A/C vents inside the cabin at start-up 😂
.. and then rev-limiting fuel cut-off simulation and the associated jolt !

I don’t think the ICE lovers are going to be that easily fooled !

Good to see progress but feels like the PCM updates J1.2 should have had but were not ready in time.

Hope this does not mean we have to wait longer for a full J2 version

TheDrive predicted more than six months ago that the 2027 Taycan would come with E-shift and have lots of new software. They have a long term track record of being accurate re other Porsche changes too, so sorrowfully as we had planned on getting a “wagon” 2027 Taycan, back to the drawing boards.

Checked out the 2026 TaycanFinder site and nothing there is of interest to us (we need PAR due to my wife’s arthritis for her to get out of the Taycan).

Is next ahead for us a Cayenne EV turbo coupe or a 2027 Taycan saloon GTS??? More configurator and thinking time ahead..

The sound is kind of stupid since it is emulating a combustion engine.
A J1.3 is better than no development or investment.

Timing is good for those of us who want to upgrade in a couple of years to get a second hand depreciated version lol.
Yeah. It means my J1.2 just took a giant hit.

Perhaps we could go even further back in time and have an option which makes the car bump around as though it were towed by a horse?
I think simulating riding on horseback while galloping would be even more engaging. Repeatedly smack the side of the seat to engage passing or attack mode!

Why is there a tachometer on a Taycan?

Did they just use AI to make this picture?

If it’s for the fake transmission shifts that’s super lame to have fake RPM……. Especially since our motors actually have a real RPM. Why not just show that?

to sale a 9000 rpm add-on 😄

Am I just blind or am I not currently seeing CT variants on the US configurator? Hopefully will update later…
It appears that Taycan CT configurator has disappeared from the US site, but is there in the Canadian configurator. It's possible that Porsche US market research predicted that a significant percentage of Taycan CT sales would end up moving to Macan EV and Cayenne EV, resulting in offering of the Taycan CT no longer being worth while in US. Or it's another Porsche glitch.

As the PCM is such a central part of the Taycan I would almost call it 1.3🤷‍♂️
So let's see...

J1.2 got:
1. Bigger much more powerful battery.
2. Much more efficient HVAC system.
3. Optimized aerodynamics
4. 30% more range
5. PPE rear motor, with huge power/torque boost and ability to deliver it down to 20% SoC.
6. Redesigned exterior
7. Active ride
8. New, better air suspension
9. Soft close
10. Different PCM functionality, 2026 got faster hardware as well.

I'm sure I left something out.

Now you get some fake shifts and a newer infotainment, and you guys immediately call it a new gen?
Are we driving the same car?

I would say the PCM is almost completely irrelevant, other than setting the options once and then forgetting about it.
Nothing of significant importance changed...

What's important differs from person to person.

Plenty of people bought the small size battery taycans. Plenty of people bought the low power or high power taycans.

The more power/torque boost is hardly relevant for a lot if not most people, since it is a 4 door saloon and speed limits are a thing.

And a car making a nice noise, fake or not, is important for many. After all, it is one of the many reasons some "petrol heads" bring out for not liking EVs - that they are quiet and lack emotion, emotion which is transmited through sound for them.

Many people also care a lot about software and software performance, it's why chinese EVs are always competing on having the newest self driving chips and newest processors, so much so that people clearly choose a car over another just based on that.

TL;DR: for some people it could very well be a bigger update than what j1.2 got, if they care more about the noise and the software/pcm.

Those people are driving the wrong car. Even the Taycan PCM on the new Cayenne is nothing compared to what other car makes have.

In that case you should find a car with the biggest possible ipad stuck to the dash, who cares about everything else ;)
