“Toilet bowl of history”! ?. Sadly, I feel your pain.
I think EA may have shown us what kind of network you get when a company is forced to do for legal reasons. Questions of reliability aside, In my mid-Atlantic area, too many EA locations are scary to visit, probably because the cost of real estate was low. Concerns about safety are aggravated when you tool up in a Porsche.

If you have an adapter you can use the Tesla network now. Go to the Tesla website. Choose using other brands. On the drop down menu select Porsche. They select Taycan. It will ask if you have an adapter. Select yes. Then you will be prompted to set up an account. After you do that, you’ll be set up.
this is incorrect information - it simply does not work that way!

you go try this for your VW/Audi/Porsche EV - and report back how it goes for you! non MagicDock site please - location and pics of it working!

go on try it - we will wait here for you!

Agreed for the non-MagicDock sites. I'm going to wait for an official announcement, which should include the adapter recommended by Porsche. My three years of free EA charging expire in June 2025....

MagicDock sites according to PlugShare: https://www.plugshare.com/map/tesla-ccs-locations

Like @tomdfw1 I wish to avoid political whining and flamethrowing, but I remember watching mainstream news reports with President Biden driving an electric Jeep Wrangler and a Ford F-150 Lightning while in office. And a quick internet search found President Obama was "coasting around" in a Chevrolet Volt - that belonged to his Press Secretary Robert Gibbs - on the south grounds of the White House.

Flamethrowing is very rare on this Forum. Let's keep it that way please. Or none at all.

This post tells us more about you than anything else. You seem to be matching the character of the people you detest. Claiming a group of people that drive pickups lack the intelligence to use a television remote, like WTF are you even talking about. Sounds to me like someone that should focus more on their own life.

About a year ago. As for when individual VAG brands will be ready for Tesla, nobody knows. It is also unknown if existing cars will gain access, or only new(er) ones.

Karen much? Not sure you noticed. America is 36T in debt and costs need to be cut!

Keep on Musking!
Cut costs for what?

There is no point to switch over to a network which might not exist in the coming years. 96% of Germans don't want anything to do with the "Swasticar". In the mean time, you have more and more cars coming on the market which use the network they have. The whole switch will not happen anyway...

Why bash Tesla? I love my Porsche, but Tesla is one of greatest American success stories of the past century.

cynically, I think Tesla is purposely dragging their feet. Then on the other hand bc they have a failed product (Cyber Cheesewedge) that will never generate a unit profit in its entire lifecycle and recent brand destruction, they may need to generate more revenue from their charging infrastructure.

All things considered, I wager our cars will gain access to Rivian networks before Tesla in 2025. VAG invested heavily into Rivian and both companies have aligned incentives to integrate their vehicles and charging networks. (VAG owns EA)

Lastly, a massive player is coming online nationally in months, Walmart. They are not messing around by installing the best hardware on the market today. (Side note- Ionna, co-owned by major manufacturers have already launched, also using the Alpitronic HYC 400). 2025-2026 will be a big year for non-Tesla networks, and by end of 2025, Tesla may actually fall behind with their pitiful 400v v3 units. Not to be forgotten, EA's newest hardware is much more reliable (so I'm told by an EA insider).
FWIW, I just road-tripped up I5 from Ontario, CA to Seattle and EA was flawless. All terminals at all locations I charged at were working. Plug and Charge made it easy.

EA is getting better - but still has stall count/congestion issues - I'll still be glad when the supercharger network is an option…but yeah EA was not flawless but functional when I road tripped from PEC ATL to Santa Cruz, CA for my Macan EV Delivery…
