Does the speedo on the IC and HUD keep up with higher rates (do they refresh fast enough)?
Note that the lower the number, the faster. This is a debounce rate. The lowest is supposed to be 0 (meaning raw, real-time number). I would not go that low- Taycan does not seem to interpolate transitions between speed displayed vs. Tesla.

I don’t have the HUD on my car but the instrument cluster can definitely keep up with my current 20 ms setting (I will go into garage and change this to 50 ms later today). 20ms is a bit too fast where if you’re in traffic maintaining a low speed, you will see it jitter and go from 20 mph -> 19 -> 20 in a short amount of time.

Acceleration wise the Taycan will max out ~20mph per second, braking is similar unless you hit something, so 20Hz/50ms seems like the highest number you'd want, given the speedo doesn't show fractions.

Sorry, I meant I want the speedo to lag to make it seem like my car is too fast....
If you dislike that Porsche equipped it with a Intel 80286, by all means set it to a high value and you can get it to the response rate of a dying solar calculator. :p

When I try to scan for faults or get into coding, I get this communication error pop up:

Anyone know what I should do?

Ha, I remember from when I used PIWIS on my car I also got this exact error for the rear passenger door. (Has been about a year since I last used it)
I think you can do the "disable control unit" to make it continue/disregard that module

This might be a dumb question, but does the 38.250 mode work for the Taycan? My understanding was that you had to use that to code, but it doesn’t recognize the Taycan and there’s no option to manually select it.

You have to use 4.X. PIWIS 3 only supports J1. Taycan
Mine is a J1 (2020), it is recognized by 41.500 diagnostics, but not 38.250, I’m wondering if the PIWIS 3 that I got from Rennmeister doesn’t have the most recent database

Because my car has matrix headlights, I tried modifying the activation threshold (from 100 km/h down to 80 km/h), but I wasn’t able to write the change. Are there any other ways to increase how often the matrix headlights activate? It’s really difficult to actually see them turn on.

Another finding is the dashboard welcome logo. I tried modifying it, but found that after each power cycle and restart, only the vehicle model (shape) changes, while the designation, such as Taycan GTS, does not change.

Then just use 4.1.... that is what I used
I very well could be wrong, but my understanding is that manual coding is only available in engineering mode in 38.250; if I am incorrect I would greatly appreciate someone who has successfully coded in 41.5 to point me in the right direction. Or if someone has successfully used 38.250 on their J1 let me know, so that I can find a software solution for the database.

Is that in ZFAS? I don't see those bitfields in my version of PIWIS.

Re: Activation thresholds. Have you tried adjusting these? https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/threads/anyone-with-piwis.20946/page-8#post-514427

I have mine set to 4 activate/8 deactivate and do notice matrix high beam activating when it's not completely dark, given there isn't sufficient light from other cars and/or street lights.

true... But in Taipei, it’s almost impossible to find dark roads… I’ve driven a Lexus before, and its matrix headlight logic activates easily without affecting oncoming drivers.
