Unfortunate ;)

But yeah, there is no difference between a 4S, 4 and a GTS apart from the options list. E.g. you can spec the 4S to be exactly the same like a GTS. The Turbo has then the Turbonite design and the cooler bumpers, and on the CT the Turbo S has even cooler bottom grilles and valance/diffuser - I'll miss those :(

So if you can't find the GTS you like, you might be able to find a 4/4S you like.
If you will be ordering new, then the 4S Black Edition can't be beat - you get more kit for less money than the GTS! It's currently by far the best bang for the buck.

I went for a Taycan 4 CT because I need a wagon anyway, and that came out ~8k cheaper fully loaded than a Sedan 4S Black Edition (and over 10k less than a ST Black Edition). The Black Edition had stuff I didn't care about such as the 18 way seats, 21" wheels included and some cosmetic stuff like the Porsche crests on the headrests and the black gloss mirrors.

I think the largest difference drivetrain wise will be the PAR, and the fact that the car drops a lot less power with SoC than the old one, so you can run the battery into the teens without it feeling like a dog. Everything else feels pretty much the same to me.

If not getting PAR, then the new 2 chamber suspension is really comparable to what I had on my pFL Turbo S with PDCC. I'd be damned if I can tell a difference. It is definitely much better than the pFL suspension without PDCC.

And then the tuning potential of the new car of course. Even a Taycan 4 is faster than the old Turbo S was with a tune.

I went J1.1 4S to J1.2 Turbo. I've made a few posts about it and feel the improvements are worth it for a high miler like me especially the range and charging improvements. The interior is exactly the same, apart for the slicker, snappier and more reliable PCM, so it won't feel very new. If you can get a turbo then the step up in power will be very noticeable, the J1.2 turbo has significantly more power than J1.1 turbo did so way more than the J1.1. To be honest it has too much power but makes for smiles after a long, hard day at the office. Suspension and ride is much better but I have PAR so more likely to that than the new J1.2 dampers.

They might do a campaign to update the PCM.
I know from the German forum that the fix for the Navigation freezing up is scheduled for Q2 2026, they might just update the J1.1 to the J1.2 version. But who knows of course.

What's useful on the J1.2 is this display on the dash:
Porsche Taycan Considered J1.2, Did it! 1764797187359-w3

Shows you the maximum current charging speed you have with the SoC and the temperature, so you always know what's limiting you.

That’s why I am considering another Taycan. I don’t think the EV Boxster is going to happen.
I still want a Porsche, and I still don’t want ICE.
I still think its a case of "when" and not "if" the 718 EV happens. But the "when" could be 2027+ away still. It all depends on them settling on a reliable battery supplier. They are a (partially) public company now and all their public roadmap releases and communications indicate it has still got a place in the future lineup.

J1.2 is a better car (I moved from J1 4S CT to J1.2 RWD). Suspension and brakes alone are worth the upgrade. Cruise control leaver, taken from Audi, now makes sense. Battery can be charged at full speed at much lower temperatures. I always hit 300+kW at UFCs. Matrix HD is better. I'm very happy with my upgrade.

718 is coming. I got this info from a trusted source. 2027, maybe even 2026. I suspect there will also be a new Taycan release too in 2027/2028 with some improvements and gimmicks from 718.

Does it show the cars around you like it is with some other car brands? Or what does the 3 lanes with up to 5 road users mean?
It does show surround cars/trucks/bikes & like others stated, J1.2 can't access FoD so no add on possible ( ALK/Innodrive )

Ha, this drove me crazy, coming from Audi myself. Then I got a Macan 25 loaner a couple of months ago and noticed the lever matched Audi’s, I thought maybe only the Macan was updated. Glad to see it made it to the J1.2 as well.

My sales guy told me 2027 for the EV Boxter... but I suppose he doesn't really know.

That one is way too much money for me. I drive my cars and there is a limit to how much cash I want on the road.

Eyeballing a 2025 GTS.

I haven’t decided yet though. It would be nice to restart warranty, free EA, connectivity, and get all the improvements.

On the flip side it’s a large cash outlay to get basically what I have now. Even my move from the base to the GTS felt muted, this one would be more so.

I was supposed to be in a Boxster EV by now.
I just purchased a CPO 2025 GTS. I believe they are slightly faster than the 4S and I'm told the suspension is tuned differently (more "sporty"). I doubt I'd know the difference.

This is my spec if it helps: https://porsche-code.com/PT5BNQA1 (the 2026 version that is... so it's not 1:1 but it's close... I think only thing it has wrong is noise insulated glass). Happy to answer any questions but I don't have a J1.1 comparative.

Things I very much like: Rear Wheel Steering, Active Ride, 360 cameras
Things that are kinda cool: Light Strip with Illuminated "PORSCHE" Logo
Things that are party tricks (to me): Launch Mode, Push to Pass
Things I HATE: Armrest center storage (I assume that is the same with your current model), stupid EU regulations forcing speed limit warnings every time you start the car (I don't think you have this) requiring you turn it off every drive (you can create a short cut key to do that for you... it didn't turn on today when I first drove the car, so I'm not sure if it saves the state or not now... I'm told it does not).

The speed limit warning is certainly not part of the 2025 US models... Was your CPO a European car, or how did you get stuck with that?

Opposite for us who are used to the original Porsche way on Cayenne and Macan ICE.
As soon as I drove Macan EV and 2025 Taycan the logic of the Assistance Stalk that we call it here, makes no sense and made me very upset that poisoned the Porsche logical way it worked before. Also, do not get me started with reshuffle of lock button on Macan EV FOB, who was asking to mess with that, like this is the first frunk Porsche.

Not happening. Mothership told me China is the factor. They cannot proceed as they cannot compete in that market. Just because Derek wants one and will pay full price, is not enough for them to justify making it. There is no demand in their biggest market so there will be no supply.

There should be a setting to turn off speed limit warning in the Assistance settings in the US. EU requires that to be on at every restart. I am pretty sure about that as I was able to turn it off on Macan EV.

Here you go from the PCM Simulator: Go to Car -> Assistance
