I have a trip planned in 2 weeks with 3 stops and do like you said. But you don't need the charge planner at all it seems, at least if you plan to stop once. I just tested it now.

all this with the charge planner still off.
This is great news!! Thank you! Verified mine doesn't crash with charge planner off and a charging point added.

Top job!
Cheers!

They already know if you put off the charge planner, it will crash less often.

I have my car back.
They have replaced fully the pcm and instead of 3885, they left it at 3882 as they think the latest update with the battery management might have caused the issue. So I’m downgraded from 3885.
They told me that they switch off the charge planner. No issue as I use ABRP and enter stop by stop for the last 4 years.
And told me the same story that Porsche is working on a solution for June.
For the moment it didn’t crash anymore but I didn’t do long trips yet.

My car is in this week for a failed heater and I mentioned the navigation issue. They claimed that "something new came out this week - We will try and install that update". I assume it will get 3885 but let's see.

Latest rumor from PFF.de :
  • The 2019-2025 Taycan's software cannot be fixed as is;
  • It'll be replaced with the 2026/J1.2 model software.
Bold formatting mine (and VFL = Vor FaceLiftr = J1.1):
So, I've just come from the service center. I got a new PCM computer today.
Afterwards I had a "more intensive" conversation with the technology expert and I can't believe what he told me, I asked explicitly 3 times whether we were possibly talking at cross purposes or whatever....no, he confirmed it every time.
So, according to him, there will be no cluster update or any update at all for the navigation problem in the VFL models. From Q2/3, all VFL models are to be upgraded to the 2026 PCM model as the existing problem cannot be solved. From Q2/3, appointments are to be made and the Taycan would have to go to the service center for 2 days.
According to him, the dissatisfaction of VFL customers is very high and they have now reacted in Stuttgart.
According to him, they have not yet managed to write reliable software for the old PCM.
My PZ HH NW is a branch office.

As I said, I can't believe it, but he insisted.
As he said, it would take the VFL Taycan to another software level.
It seems the poster got the information from the Hanburg Porsche Zentrum; which is quite a large one; which would explain why this service center's expert has more information than other service centers.

The bad: we need to wait even longer.
The good: we'd get the new PCM software; with the phone navi in the dash map.

all I want is official comms, is it really so hard for someone to officially announce something?

compare this with what Volvo did with the new hardware for the EX90s, where they’ve done a recall campaign and significantly upgraded the hardware as the infotainment system was borked.

I doubt it. Unfortunately
I agree with you. Partially.

It's true that the actual solution is a workshop campaign to update all cars to 4360.
But has Porsche actually approved such a campaign? I doubt it.

PCM hardware replacements under warranty need to be approved by porsche central, on a case by case basis after the car diagnosis/logs data is gathered and sent - based on complains/symptoms.

Why would Porsche keep approving hardware replacements, if they plan to upgrade the software of all j1.1 in Q3 anyway?

And I know 100% they keep approving PCM hardware replacements, because my car got new PCM this week also - complete with software version downgrade.

From H9J1035070M -> H9J1035070BF ; from PCM 3885 -> 3882; from Navi package: Feb 2026 to Sep 2025

It could also be that Porsche is a disaster where no department talks to other departments, for sure... but as one would say: "i'll believe it when I see it" - aka we need an official confirmation.

Nope, the issue was back in 1km out of the dealership :D It happened only once, but it did happen - short trip, 20km driven.

I do notice the PCM is snappier, but to be honest, I noticed the same when they updated my ECUs; and a few weeks later the performance had downgraded back. So I assume it will be the same this time.

The main reason I agreed to PCM replacement was just in hopes of getting a newer part, which may support future software updates IF they happen - as mine was a 2019/2020 part. Had 0 hopes it would solve the issue.

I believe we have exact same PCM hardware part now @Jasper4S. And you don't have the issue, while I still have it. So safe to assume it's not the PCM hardware, 100% sure.

If a new PCM is the solution then the longer they wait before announcing the more J1.1 cars are out of warranty. Clever

You can extend the warranty up to 15 years. So not the reason.
Just bad management and lack of understanding of software, both typical german traits :D

Just tested @Gru ‘s workaround on a 600km trip - works as described, with some caveats.

Started with charge planning on, the thing crashed like crazy.
I preloaded the route plan from the Porsche app, turned charge planning off in the PCM.

It works rather well, however, if you drive more spiritedly, you need to keep an eye on the next stop's projected remaining battery percentage - are there is no automation to compensate. Which can be quite distracting at times, but there you go - a workaround is just that, in the end.

Oh, most importantly, preconditioning works like a charm 🙂

Good. A Tesla like response. My old S hugely benefitted from going from MCU1 to MCU2 - a paid for subsidised hardware upgrade due to failings in the original hardware.

A full software upgrade is the very least Porsche can do.

In fact, given the general poor quality if these cars, they should have been planning these kind of free upgrades anyway to prop up the residuals and keep owners happy.
