The dongle will add live-data, in particular the SoC, to the ABRP-App. It won't add anything to the PCM.
It’s probably more reliable, but you don’t have to have a dongle, ABRP premium can also get live data/SoC via enode/your Porsche login

I tried at beginning but wasn't working properly. SoC was always late and was not usable for long trip where you don't have good 4g coverage. With OBD data is accurate and ABR can calibrate quite well.

As far as we know (as of today), the problem first raised its head in July 2025. It affected initially people in the Netherlands and other countries with an early expansion to a dense charging network. Eventually it appeared to have expanded to cause issues across most of (western) Europe.

The problem affects J1.1 cars and is related to the dense number of charging sites and the manner in which the cars constantly attempt to display and calculate optimal charging strategies using the charging planner - even when no actual route has been defined, loaded or created.

Disabling the charging planner avoids the issue.

Alternatives using Apple CarPlay, ABPR etc are available but these don't use the HUD for example and are rather inconvenient (need to use external software/ODB dongles/manually add charging locations) as these don't activate the pre-charge temperature optimisation for the battery.

Porsche is aware of the issue and has (according to various dealers in different countries) stated that a fix will be available in June. Whether this is an update to the J1.2 software or an OTA update is not known, rumours are that it would be a long process, probably an update to the newer software stack but this has issues with bricking hardware as many modules in the car would need new firmware. Also the dealer would need the car for a few days. The belief is that no hardware needs to be replaced or swapped.

At the moment we are all waiting to see what happens in June. In the meantime, some people have managed to get refunds on their Porsche connect subscriptions and even refunds for FOD purchases of Innodrive etc.

Hi,

As of today i not only have the charging and navigation problem, but the PCM is also stuck in the private mode, it doesn't load my account or makes connection with the Porsche app.

I already logged out and in again in the app, tryed to create my profile again on the PCM....nothing works...still in private mode.

Does anybody has the same problem or any suggesties?

I found that the following worked for me.....

taking your phone inside the car - going to privacy settings in the PCM (it will say inactive)..,. then activating privacy mode ,,,, and then deactivating it again - worked for me

I am not clear what problem your car is experiencing.
--Does your car have data connection with Porsche servers - it should display LTE symbol in PCM?
--In the PCM is privacy mode active and you cannot disable it?

I ask this because in the past some of us have had situation where the MyPorsche app gives a message that there is no remote access to the car, disable privacy mode. Then when we go to the PCM itself, privacy mode is in fact deactivated. So the app is giving an incorrect message.

If your situation is that in the app, you are informed privacy mode should be disabled, but in the PCM you are able to disable it, AND you have LTE symbol showing in PCM,

then you could try @tchavei's method of adding user again in PCM described here: https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/threads/no-remote-access-via-app.16190/page-2#post-251539

If the car does not have datacomm/LTE symbol in PCM and/or you cannot deactivate privacy mode in PCM, and/or you cannot login to your account in the PCM, then those are different problems and the method I linked above does not apply.
Good luck.

I have not heard about the situation of not being able to disable Privacy mode in the PCM.

Take a look at status of individual services in Settings >>> Porsche Connect Services. Normally they should be "active" and something like "valid contract".
Also LED by interior mirror should be solid green.
Be aware when you add an account to PCM or try to login, you must use the 4 digit security code in your MyPorsche account, not your app password.
Have things worked properly in the past, or is this vehicle new to you and it has never worked?

You may want to contact Porsche Mobility/Porsche Connect telephone support.
Be aware if they advise you to reset the PCM to factory settings, you will lose all PCM user accounts and nearly all personalization settings in PCM. Resetting PCM to factory settings often does not fix datacomm or Porsche Connect problems.

Not being able to deactivate privacy mode in PCM is not a datacomm or Porsche Connect related problem.

I have had this issue @Ardc experienced a while back. It sorted itself out after a few days. Ik assumed it was a glitch on the server side of things...

Some owners claim they have an appointment for the new software, starting in June:
https://www.pff.de/en/thread/2830829-navi-hangs-up/?postID=156493416#post156493416
Solution is here, new software available.

I have an appointment on 01.06. What was on the instruction leaflet sounded good.

Roughly off the top of my head:

-Optimized Charging Planner

-New navigation options?

-Design adjustments for faster PCM response, etc.

Let's just be optimistic and see how the update turns out, my gut feeling says:
They can't afford many more mistakes, it'll be fine!
I also received an email today 👌🏼

I'll wait and see how it goes for the people installing the fix, before I book an appointment. Genuinely excited!
