Is there anyway to keep the rear LED strip always on?
Similar to the Daylight Running Lights (DRL) at the front; is there any way to make the rear lights always ON or be part of the DRL?

Anyway to program this, or a fuse or a cable connection mechanism... or some other means?

Hi,
The Taycan I just signed for has Led strip on when front DRL are on. It's a French specs Taycan.
Based on my experience with Panamera, this type of regional setting is coded thru Piwis instructions.

As an update...

Ii have always found that having the rear lights on (think of it as Daylight Running Lights) is actually safer.

I am far more worried about drivers behind me and unable to see the car in front.

This was one if the first things I programmed in all of my BMWs... enabled the rear lights as pat of DRL.

Front DRLs

Thanks...
That is good news... means something is possible through PIWIS..

Anyone knows of any places to obtain a copy of PIWIS?
I mean a cheap copy.

My solution to this has been to turn on the headlights every time I do my "start up" sequence.

Aside from the obvious fact that the headlights are on in addition to the rear LED light strip am I missing something?

Doesn't this single button press achieve that you want for "free" or perhaps at the cost of a few extra watts from the battery to drive the headlights?

What I am looking for is the Rear Lights to be Switched on along with the front DRL?
This is simple enough to implement on a lot of other cars.

I understand that with the headlights ON, the rears automatically turn on... but I am not keen on turning on my headlights all the time. (Far too bright and no value in the daytime).
It is not about a few extra watts, it is that I would prefer the simple DRL look at the front in normal daylight driving.

But, thanks for the idea...:like:

Interesting. My Taycan is from France as well but the led strip is not on. I ordered mine new. Are you the 1st owner of the car as well? If not, maybe the old owner did something to get it on.

Same for me with a 2020 model. Only fronts when daylight

And I forgot to mention that I have model 2023… so it looks like they didn’t change the behavior over the years.

@allroadusa maybe you can ask the old owner how they were able to configure this? ? I am very interested to do the same.
Thanks!

Interesting... Mine is MY22 from Porsche AG exported from Manufaktur to France... I'll dig into it.
Didn't realized this behavior was uncommon. I figured it was regional restriction or so..

You can have it coded with PIWIS. Eventually I will be doing this myself. You'll either have to find someone with a programmer or buy one yourself, and then figure out the codes that activate it.

Your picture is with your Taycan parked. Do you have proof of the rear LED strip being illuminated while in motion with the headlights off?

For example I set my lights to stay on for 70 seconds after unlocking/locking and this duration can be adjusted even longer in the PCM settings for lighting.

I would be happy to experiment myself….
Just need to know what all is needed? And from where?
(I don’t mean the official Porsche channels… as that would be too cost prohibitive)

In addition, any websites or help manuals on PIWIS.
