On the website, depending on which Taycan I tell it that I have it will say they are compatible or not. I am pretty sure my J1.2 4SCT will work but it’s not 100% clear.
Just select any model with the same battery size, ideally same model year.

The Oco app wants to know 'which Porsche' and then I lists my model ie. '2020 Taycan S4'.
I don't recall thought, that it then seeks further info during the setup, regarding the battery size, so its not clear then if it:
- it makes an assumption that all these cars have the same battery capacity
- can extract battery capacity info or COS info from the car when plugged it - but I don't think so.

In my case, 79kW only, which might be on the wrong side of any assumptions.

On a related point, has anyone got a Pod Point charger and IOG? On the website, depending on which Taycan I tell it that I have it will say they are compatible or not. I am pretty sure my J1.2 4SCT will work but it’s not 100% clear. I am currently signed up to OVO which was great but they’ve just doubled the price per unit unless you sign up to a monthly plan and the monthly plan is not good value for me.
If it is possible to use your Pod Point as a dumb charger, I.e. as a power supply, you could try setting up OIG as a ‘Commando plug’ charger, with the car as an Octopus device. That’s how I configure my Porsche charger.

My problem - charging past 80% and continuing to 100% - occurred only when I left the car plugged in for a few days.
I did see that it had stopped around 80% after the first night.

Octopus have now responded to the ticket I raised:

I’ll challenge this reply.
Mine used to change to the set level (say 80%) on the first night.

But if I left it plugged in, it would then charge to 100% the next night. I seem to remember others saying similar on here.

Yep, I see the same behaviour.

I'm on Intelligent Go but stopped using it because of reliability issues then I didn't renew Porsche Connect so afaik it won't work anymore. I got an email from Octopus saying I had to connect or they would switch me to Octopus Go. I have an Andersen A2. Is there a way to set it up without a Connect subscription?

I don't have an Anderson, but got the same email as I was also having issues with IOG and we need to use the same charger for the wife's BMW PHEV also (I now have a BMW i4 M50).

I added my car back onto Octopus.
Then we set the evse to charge 11.30-05.30 only.
Set both cars to immediate/Direct charge.

Plug either car in and it starts charging for a second, then the evse stops it.
Octopus says 'unable to control vehicle' if its mine. But it then restarts sometime after 11.30 and does its thing for both cars.

Works fine on both cars, and Octopus are happy as long as a car is selected as a Device with them.

Wow. I‘m currently getting 9.5 hours a day of cheap (£0.07/kWh) electricity when Intelligent Octopus Go controls my Zappi charger.

Way better than the fixed 6 hour 23:30 - 05:30 window and at times when I’m actually awake to make use of it!

I can still use the car’s inbuilt timer to limit the state of charge to 80% too:rock:

Is that 100% reliable?
Does the 80% Porsche timer override the 100% OIG app setting?
I assumed active OIG profiles/timers would take precedence/get confused by any others that are enabled.
Do you also have an active profile and if so what are the hours?
Are there any settings on your Zappi charge, or are you just using the OIG app?

If this config works for you it may work for me.

Yes.

Yes, the Porsche timer ultimately controls when charging stops (I actually use a single profile set to 75% and no timer). Note that OIG is controlling the Zappi charger (EVSE), NOT the car, so timers/profiles aren't set or affected by Octopus. Also note that the 100% set in the Octopus app is a request for how much charge to add, which dictates the total charging time Octopus then sets, but when the car reaches its desired max charge it refuses to take more.
Do you also have an active profile and if so what are the hours?
Charging times are controlled by Octopus and the wall box; no need for any time controls in the car.
Are there any settings on your Zappi charge, or are you just using the OIG app?
Zappi is controlled by Octopus using the requested charge-to-add and ready-by time set in the app.

1. Yes, 100% reliable
2. The 80% Porsche timer overrides anything Octopus tries to do via the Zappi charger. The car simply refuses any charge if it’s at 80% SOC already.
3. Octopus can’t communicate with my Porsche because I don’t pay for Porsche’s Connect Services. Consequently no ‘enode’ profiles or timer get set in the car.
4. I have no profile set in the car and just 1 daily recurring timer in the car limiting charge to 80%
5. I simply use the OIG app. Nothing special in the Zappi.

@tophamn @n3ophyte - thanks
My EVSE is the Porsche supplied mobile one, not compatible with OIG. I rely on the car’s compatibility with OIG.
In my case the car’s Profile % charge setting would act as a minimum rather than a maximum, executed when the car is plugged in, regardless of any Porsche/EVSE/OIG parameters.

I’ll try enabling a Porsche timer at 80%, to see if that stops Octopus ignoring the OIG 80% setting, and charging to 100% when the car remains plugged in for more than one night.
