Add me to the ’25 J1.2 owners that lost data connection. The Taycan data has not updated since Jan 5th, other vehicles are connected to the app with no issues.

I’m logged into my account in the PCM, shows 4G, Apple maps work, except no connection to the App. Porsche Connect claims my account is valid and showing connected. I did get two yellow “SOS Emergency Call function error” warnings that have cleared themselves.

I’ve logged in and logged out of the PCM, also removed and re-installed the app, still no connection.

The Dealer rebooted the PCM and thought it was good, but it’s not.

Sound like the faulty Communications module?

Are there any other settings in the PCM I can try?
When I had this issue, showing 4G connection but no data either way I had it booked in at the OPC an was anticipating a new Comms module being needed but the day before it was booked in I parked in an underground car park for a few ours at my son's apartment. On exiting the car park comms were restored. Might be worth a try if you have a suitable car park nearby

The hardware in the MY25 (and even in MY24 AFAIK) is 5G enabled. The regional eSIM cards are the limiting factor. Germany has a Vodafone service that is 4G limited. If I drive to the Netherlands and on roaming, I get most likely 5G ( to be tested though )
The MY26 cars have a 5G Vodafone eSIM contract from the outset.
That makes sense, my eSIM is Verizon 4G

Worthy trying, finding an underground parking garage in Florida isn't really an option but walled in garages might work.

Have two J1.2, both show 4G.

In one (rwd) I lost data connections/mobile app updates and the dealer replaced the conn box and that solved the issue until about couple of months later that I had the same issue, 30 days into the data loss issue I scheduled an appointment and magically after few days the issue was gone, not sure how…

I have a “German” MY25 1.2, living in NL, limited to 4G all around EU (at least NL, DE, BE, FR, SP). But it’s the weakest link of the SIM or comm module, if you have a 4G SIM (or contract) you won’t get 5G roaming.

I suspect both the data contract / SIM and comm module are 4G only.

ChatGPT (I know this could be wrong) says, at least in the US, that you'll get 5G (where supported by Verizon) if you subscribe to the enhanced data plan.

Anyone have that, that can confirm?

After 35 days of no data connection, its connected again.
Porsche Connect customer experience specialist ran me through all the basic PCM settings and finally kicked it up to a Porsche Connect "Expert" after seeing screen shots of my PCM. I am guessing they can reset the connection from their end?

My wild guess is that the connbox sim runs out of data, and every month they get a report of these cars who has connect contract but it's inactive because they ran out of data, then there is a process/task to enable them.

THIS IS ONLY A GUESS...

Too bad that the visibility on that is so deep so the connect support can't figure it out and the dealers are only left with replacing the box hardware...
At least it magically comes back to normal, mine has no issue since it returned to work mid december after being offline over 30 days.

What do you mean by "connbox sim runs out of data"?

There is a cell sim in the connbox, that sim has a data plan that most likely has no data available.
You can see the PCM indicates about an error when you with check the connectivity menu (I can recall how exactly to get to it) that says “data not available”
I found a photo of Thai when I was sending it to the Connect support team:

I have had the comms issue for months (showing connected, but no app connection, logged out, reset PCM, cannot log back in). It has been in at the dealer to look at, but they were unable to fix so it had to be booked back in for a 'hard reset' which in the J1.2 requires a lot of work to remove the interior to get to it (i was told the fuse does not do the same job). However, it is now in and the did an optional Software Update, which has fixed it! Picking it up later.
