Following for curiosity about the potential upgrade to the new PCM software.

You mentioned writing a big email back in early January, but it’s still early January. You’re so lucky to get a quick reply and such great service! I’m really hoping they can sort it out.

Don’t get your hopes up for the 4xxxx update. Whenever that happens, I’ll probably kiss @chun on the mouth (with consent, of course). And I’ll wrap my Taycan pink. Damm, now I really hope we don't get the update. I really dont want a pink Taycan.

I sent that email on January 1st. People work straight after in France. It's an advantage... For once!

Did you bet something that you'll regret if we get the update, is that what this is? 😜

I just left mine (MY24, J1.1) to the Porsche Center. I did wrote them a giant email early January explaining all the issues I've encountered with the navigation (and some more), with suggestions at the end regarding workarounds that could be implemented to avoid bad charging speeds (in the worst case scenario).

Went through all the bullet points with the workshop people, they religiously created an incident for all of these. They also created an official note about my feature requests, that is feedback to Porsche apparently (The main one being to surface the battery pre-conditionning in PCM, so it can be launched manually)

I'm currently on PCM 3882, it will be upgraded to 3885 with re-coding of all ECUs. I've pointed out that J1.2 Taycans could display Android auto/Apple CarPlay on the instrument cluster/HUD and that I would like to have this software on mine (PCM 4xxx series) They told me they will check if that is feasible. I know it's an extremely long shot but who knows, Taycan J1.1 and J1.2 have supposedly the same hardware on the infotainment so, maybe they will do it.

Anyway, I'm supposed to get it back tomorrow afternoon so will report back if the issues (all or a subset of it) are fixed or not.
And? I need to know because of obvious reasons ;)

Too soon to tell I'm afraid. I used the navigation to go back home but it's too short of a trip.

Going for a longer, 200 km trip tomorrow though so that will tell me more. Obviously, will let you know

My car was updated in the weeks before X-mas to 3885. Interesting enough I did not notice any problem within the following weeks, though I did not clock much miles. But TODAY I got all symptoms back, lagging instructions, hanging satnav after a few kms, a few soft reboots, all during a 40 miles trip. No hard reboot. One day ago I had a non working charging planner which just showed the turning circle while satnav was working (though it did not show how much soc I would have at the end of that trip).

So now we‘re in 2026 and it is now over SIX months that my premium sports EV does not have a useable satnav with reliable options to plan charging or preheat the battery. And no ETA when that might change. Instead I got an email from the Dealer I bought the car asking me about my plans to buy a car this year. And an email by my service dealer inviting me to an evening event to experience and learn all about the new chayenne.

I did a three hour trip today, and same thing. The worst is that the navigation instructions always seem to freeze like 3-4 km before a motorway exit. That makes it very difficult to judge which one is the right one, when there are a few consecutive ones.

An update from the german PFF. Someone got the info from his PZ (Service Center) that the issue is that the PCM is running out of memory and Porsche tries to change the Software so that it uses less memory. However the fix that was supposed to arrive in Q1/2026 has now been postphoned to Q2/2026. Q2 means in best case 9 months without a working satnav and 11 months in worst If there is no additional delay.

Would also be interesting to know how the memory specification happened to be. I guess now that saving money on hardware memory chips will mean spending big money on recalling for software update campaign.

Thanks for the update, I can definitely believe that's cause. However, leaving owners in the dark (still no official communication or acknowledgement of the issue) and postponing the fix, while it's beeing reported for more than 6 months now is an absolute disgrace from a brand like Porsche
