How long before aftermarket tuners offer a "planned heater failure" service, for those who don't want to drive with a ticking time bomb.I was hoping this damn thread would die (of natural causes, mind), as indeed by now this failure seems to be one of simply "when". Wondering if I should leave my car outside for a few nights - while it's still winter.
As a reminder to those who have their cars serviced - check your charging settings upon receiving the car back. I discovered (recently and by accident) that the 'gentle charging' option was enabled, which must have happened when the car was in for the battery leakdown recall.
PS> I totally hear you. I don't drive into snow country as often as you do, but I like doing road trips and don't relish the idea of getting stuck in the middle of nowhere without heat, defogging, etc. I've actually chosen not to drive to California this winter partially because I was worried I'd get stuck and have to deal with PCNA recovering me and my car from god knows where. Maybe I'm just reading too much about the heaters failing and have an incorrect perception of the risk? If it's such a low risk, Porsche should just offer anyone with a failed heater a first class ticket home from wherever the car will break down, car recovery back home, and same or better or say $500 a day towards a loaner until the car is back at home.
