Currently (7/18/23) there is no new update. I called Customer Service yesterday and received this today. Yesterday's email from Porsche was just an alert that there will be updates in the future.

Why didn't they just send a version of THIS letter instead of the very confusing one they actually sent? ..........another poorly implemented process by a company that ought to, and can, do better...

Early build 2020 Turbo here and no update, email or information on getting anything over the air. I scrolled through the comments here and it is starting to seem like the 2020 vehicles might be left behind on this one?

Porsche excels at confusing and contradictory communications. So which is it?

Like most of you, my PCM doesn't show any new updates and that the system is “Up to date.” Just for kicks though I scheduled an appointment at the dealer for next Thursday to apply any updates the car may need. The email we received, by the way, was news to them as well. We’ll see...

I received the email for my 2022 RWD on July 17 (yesterday). I just now tried to log into the USA Porsche portal and got this:

The way I read the email, there is no update. The notification was about preparing your vehicle to be able to receive OTA updates.

If that's indeed the case, then whoever wrote the message that I see in my My Porsche app may want to rethink how they communicate.

Because not only is it pretty suggestive of an imminent update, it also sound less like Porsche and more like an email sweepstakes from a vape shop:

Porsche has developed FREE Over-The-Air ("OTA") software updates available now specifically for your vehicle and plans to offer additional updates in the future. However, you need to take certain steps to be eligible to receive these FREE software updates.​

I feel the same way.
Haven`t received anything (OTA) after the big update in 2022 (except google maps updates) .

I think the only thing we can conclude from this effort is that not enough Taycan’s/accounts are configured to accept OTA updates and they are hustling people to try and improve the situation.

It feels like the behaviour of a company that is planning on pushing a major (formally dealer only) update in the future.

With Macon and 718 EVs in the pipeline they want to get the Taycan fleet in a good place to reduce pressure on Porsche Centre’s when the new cars rollout.

What was included in the update

I downloaded an OTA update about a week ago. Description was "improvement on charging stability especially at the end of the charging phase".

Method:
1. Available software update pops up on the PCM screen, description what to do and what about the update. Estimated time of the update is also signed, ca. 9 min was for this one. This gives a pivot when get the car back.
2. Power Off with the power button.
3. Push 'Start Update' button on the PCM screen.
4. Exit the car.
5. Lock the car. (First I forgot it so update did not start).
+1. Do not charge the car while the process is running.

i pressed the update about 15 times, nothing happened.

does that mean my car does not need any update at the moment?

i have the cloud thing enabled on my car, so i guess no updates pending for me.
