Latest update….just had the PCM update to 3885 from 3882. It lasted 20 minutes this time and then did the loading everything minutes so didn’t work.

the dealer said they had a number in the last couple of weeks and not had any callbacks but mine didn’t. not sure what’s next but I see rumoured update on June??

Mine's back to being entirely unusable.

Goes off within a mile or so of being used. Doesn't even restart. Just hangs until the car is restarted.

No fancy layers showing etc.

Porsche need to suck up a lengthy s/w upgrade and have PCM units on standby in case they brick one.

And accept this as the cost of shite s/w architecture.

Or they can do what they are currently doing, showing the middle fingers to owners :D
Seems to work great... for them :D

You are correct, but am not sure that's a long term winning strategy.

Looks like some consistency at last. Dropped mine off for a few things including the nav/planner. Service Advisor said they would try to improve things (3885 etc.), but best info they have is remedy around June.

Cayenne Hybrid loaner. Always request EV, always get one of these, always surprises me ride quality not as plush as Taycan.

Hello 👋

Soooo after almost two months bug-free, the nav started to fail again. That happened during my road trip which I completed today. The correlation is obvious and sad: when you need to trip planner the most, this is when it fails 😑

Sent an email tonight to my OPC, let's see what they will do next (upgraded my car to 3885 last time)

Just sad to read. We need to trust our vehicles. I'm afraid I have to sell because of this. Every trip I have navigation anxiety. Last summer I was stuck in Lyon (1500km from home) with 3% battery in the middle of the night. My navigation was frozen and told me I had to drive for another 200km and had 60% battery left. After that incident I never drove peacefully.

I feel you. You're supposed to hop into the car, set the destination and drive. I have the same reaction now, and double or triple plan/check the itinerary before the road trip "just in case".

I had 3 EVs in the 10 years, this was a non-issue, period. I had to buy a 100k+ car to start having this. First world problems I guess 🙃

Until this Nav issue I was adamant I would keep this car until the next version and then get another, despite the various recalls and issues. This has made the car stressful and difficult to use though and Porsche’s lack of official response is appalling. I’m now looking at cutting my losses and moving away from Porsche after many years of moving towards it. Not sure what would come next though which is the issue

I’ve got a few big European drives this summer and I’d quite like to take the Taycan for the challenge of driving an EV across Europe… But the useless nav, and my lack of faith that it’ll be fixed in time, is making me think twice.

What are the alternatives? ABRP with a premium subscription? Apple Maps? Both now have integration with the car for SoC at least, I think. Ok no battery preconditioning but I don’t think that’ll be too big an issue in June/July/August?

To be fair, you won't have have an issue with battery preconditionning in the summer, so you can do the nav with Google maps/Waze/ABRP/whatever you prefer though Android Auto/CarPlay

If only I could manually launch the battery preconditionning, I would stop worrying and use that useless software

For the warmer months ABRP premium probably better than the native app to be honest. I used it on a recent trip and even with the lack of preconditioning it worked very well. The couple of times when I wanted a warmer battery I used the porsche nav to navigate to the charger, charge planner switched off doesn’t seem to crash.

What about HUD and passenger display? Both useless options without working navigation. For me, not having native navigation is a total disaster.

Apple Maps is a great workaround, not for road trips though.

For me, the silence from Porsche HQ is the worst that could happen in this situation. I expect from every SW product that as soon as I report a bug, it will be solved in a reasonable time. This bug has been reported by hundreds of users; it is costing Porsche a lot, and we have zero communication. It has been 7 months of total silence.

Again... total disaster.

In my experience ABRP has worked very well. It is not the best about navigation tricky roads etc. Google or Waze is much better for that purpose.

but on a longer road trip ABRP along major roads works very well. It also has the benefit of being able to filter away all the useless charging stations and only show the brands you prefer and want. If you manage to link it to your car you will get the battery SoC so it can adjust your charging stops if necessary.

In the summer time I have just put the car on Sport plus mode, which heats up the battery a bit more than in Normal mode. It is still not as warm as the preconditioning function, but means you might have time for a second espresso and a croissant instead!
’The difference in charging time is not that big an issue in the summer.

I completely agree with you on the issue of acknowledgement from Porsche. Plus any patches or sw changes to rectify the issue.

I am fed up with hearing from the service advisor in 3 different Porsche service center that my complaint about the issue is the first time they hear about it. And that was in 3 different countries, Sweden, Germany and France!
